To be honest, we were too late and the town looked... read more We arrived in the town mid afternoon and not having eaten, we looked around for a place to have a late lunch. To be honest, we were too late and the town looked deserted. We spotted movement inside this clean looking establishment and we sent the secrete weapon in to knock on the door; our friend who can speak Italian with a southern accent! It worked and we all were ushered in as the family were having a well deserved break. The proprietor was happy to cook us a meal as long as we were happy to have anchovies, done three ways! We were very happy as we sat down to three courses starting with the fish cured in acid, then a traditional local pasta, and finally the fish grilled with a salad. We chatted over the next 2 hours with the chef and his lovely wife and we were treated like family. Their locally sourced wines were great accompaniments to the wonderful feast that was prepared for us. We were asked to write on the guests wall and we were given a tip as the where to go that evening to see another Calabrian coastal town which was fantastic and we would not have gone there but for this wonderfully hospitable couple. A meal that will remain with us in memory when a lot of the others are forgotten. THANKYOU.
