What User doesn't like about Los Juncos - Patagonian Lake House:
This place is very overrated. I'd go so far to say his horrors. The food is terrible unless you like corn flakes, the service is terrible, you like to urinate a room well under what you paid, with a bathroom that is from a campsite, and without a view if the house had no other guests. I say house because it is definitely not a hotel. In addition, it is too far from the city or close to all attractions. View all feedback.
Gaby is a great cook and host. The service is intensely personal in the most positive sense. Gaby is very concerned about quality and his focus delivers a wonderful experience. The quiche was spectacular and the seafood wonderful; these were my favorites, but every meal was excellent. A lovely, quiet ambience with views of the lake. Gaby is happy to discuss the wines, meals, and the local sights, but he'll happily leave you alone to a private meal it's up to you. We dined at Los Juncos the first night and enjoyed it so much we had all our dinners there.
Do not miss this restaurant but you need reservations. The restaurant is in a small charming bed and breakfast and only excepts dinner clients who hold reservations. The food and atmosphere are outstanding. On the night we were there, one had a choice of 3 main courses. My husband had the salmon, which he found mouth watering. There was a vegetarian option and every body else at our table had the slow cooked lamb. It was unanimously voted Best Lamb ever , as was the home made brownies and coffee ice cream. The restaurant is owned by Flavia Michelini, who from the moment one arrives, oversees everything. Her brother is the chef, although Flavia makes all the baking. It was without a doubt, the best meal/evening we had not only in Patagonia but in all of Argentina.
Mother and son work together and cook the best meals we ate in Bariloche and I believe in Argentina!
Our tour guide had this place on his recommendation list so we made reservations by email in advance as we were traveling to Bariloche during the demanding tourist season time between Christmas and New Years. From the moment you walk in you feel as though you just entered a good friends home for a small dinner party. The feel is very intimate. The view is spectacular. The food is fantastic. This is a cash only place and rather hard to find but completely worth it.
