Osteria Caserma Guelfa

Despite the tradition, the are actually only a few restaurants in San Benedetto and surroundings capable of proposing an attractive offer of fish and seafood, caring about quality of the ingredients, cooking technique and variety of choice. The Caserma Guelfa is one of them. The restaurant is in Porto d 'Ascoli, easy to get to. The menu includes only seafood. Nice setting in what used to be the guard-post on the north side of the river Tronto, a boundary that stood for centuries before the unification of Italy in 1861. The quality and choice are excellent. Special quotes for the baked turbot rombo with potatoes, paccheri with seafood pesto if I remember correctly . Wines: the choice is very good, and for those not familiar with the regional production it may be a good opportunity to taste those from Passerina and Pecorino grapes. The price is in line with the offer. Highly recommended.

The old papal tax collection centre with its brick vaulted ceilings has been reimagined into a fish restaurant of high quality. We had the asparagus and scampi risotto and mixed fried fish. All served with in-house baked bread and small pizzas washed down a local Pecorino white. Our guest had a pasta dish. All up with coffee E108.

L'edificio è di 500 ed era una dogana dello stato papale, presieduta dalle truppe guelfi, che qui aveva il suo confine con il regno delle due sicilie. caveau, porticato e cortile. molto suggestivo. pesce fresco e cucina di qualità indiscussa. ottimi mulini marinati. prezzi un po' troppo alti, ma non tanto da indurre il pentimento.

Cosa posso dirti? Ho incontrato l'amico proprietario di un amico... una posizione meravigliosa il cibo sublime il suo consiglio anche su bere foto fantastiche parlano da soli. prezzi medi elevati ma assolutamente in linea con le prelibatezze che abbiamo mangiato. merita e merita ancora. grazie federico della splendida serata.
