What Jamie H dislikes about Red Onion Closed:
Ordered Pork cordon bleu and chicken curry kebab. The pork was way over cooked and all you could taste was the burnt breadcrumbs around dry and tough pork. The chicken curry kebab was also overcooked and dry but at least the curry sauce tasted nice. View all feedback.

We did eat breakfest two times and it was very good. We also did eat pasta bolognese one evening and it was also good. Friendly service
Nice bar to chill in the evening, eat some nice food, and listen to a singer. Atmosphere is the main selling point, as it's full of all nationalities having a good time. Food is fine without being amazing, and reasonably priced. Drinks are likewise. Service is good, but it's a big busy place in the evenings, so take that into account. Recommended.
I have eaten at the Red Onion before and have had good experiences, particularly with steak dishes. The Spaghetti Bolognese looks huge and tasty, but, today, I went for a favourite, pork cordon blue. I was offered chips as an accompaniment. When it arrived, I got just what was offered a cordon blue and chips, nothing else, which made the plate look like stuff had been forgotten. The outside edges were well over cooked and the predominant taste was severely burned breadcrumbs. The pork in the middle was a bit over cooked, though the ham and cheese were fine. I suspect that the chips, more french fries, came from a bag and just weren’t exciting. I could see without cutting the cordon blue open that it was well over cooked, so it felt like somebody had just chucked it on the plate and didn’t much care What the customer thought. As a resident, living in easy walking distance, with so many other good eating out options in the Irish Centre, the Kasbah and nearby and this really disappointing dish costing over 15 euros, I won’t be rushing back, at least, not for that meal and probably not for food. On the up side, the waiters were really friendly, welcoming and capable, orders were taken electronically and quickly and if you like country and folk, particularly Irish, then this is the bar for you. They have a guest singer on in the early evening and the regular host later. In my experience, these guys are really good.
Visited last night, spoilt by an obnoxious waiter, thought he was funny with his rude stance. Very offensive has spoilt previous good nights, hope that management react get rid of him ASAP.. Used to be a good night out, really gone down hill over the last season.
