Service was good. We had a party of 16. Apps were fantastic (Calamari) My steak was cooked to perfection and as ordered. Sides were very good also-just a little small. I would recommend this spot! The name has changed to Ace of Steaks View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about The Ace Of Steaks:
we came to a party dinner. the restaurant itself is beautiful. but it's not like that. the waiter urged us to order immediately. he even forgot what we ordered, and at the end we had to ask ourselves what we got, what then it took about 40 minutes to get the leak after the first question. then we all got our jacks, we noticed that the mathe was not correct and it had to be redeemed again. we had no complaints on the... This place is no longer 1718, they have changed it a week before the new year. I think the owner should have said something to those who had reservations. the waiter tried to do his best, but they just opened 3 days before. we have asked for drinks, they did not have them, flake that they did not have, dinner lasted more than an hour to come, drinks prepared were not what we asked, table wrong set, and many more things that I will not mention...so owners if they plan to open on New Year's Day and they only open their restaurant, be there and train your people! it is not a cheaper place to pay for something that it is not worth. very disappointing as we loved in 1718.
Its now called Ace of steaks and it is terrible. Do not mistake this for the previous (1718 restaurant) in the same location. I had hoped it would be as good or better, I was wrong. Service was rushed from the beginning and did not improve even after I said something to the hostess. Appetizers we had the steak tartar shich was sub par, the bone marrow and calamari were served cool. I ordered the lobster bisque which was the consistency of 2% milk and almost the same color never mind the disappointing flavor, it was sent back uneaten along with the apple salad that was off color and bitter. The $100 Wagyu ribeye was ordered medium rare it served medium, it was chewy and not worth the cost. The 6oz. Fillet was ordered medium rare it also was overcooked. We ordered Brussels sprouts, scalloped potatoes which had an off flavor and again they were both served cold. Two of our five guests did not eat anything but the over baked rolls and the server finally asked if anything was wrong and I told him, so he remove some but not all the offending items from the bill. Several other tables were sending back food or asking for management/owner but he never showed up I suspect because he(the owner) was entertaining friends at a “chefs table” One table canceled their entire order and left. When we were leaving I again told the hostess it was a terrible experience overall, I asked for the owners name(Michael) and when he would be available she was not sure and told me to call tomorrow. This is not the old (1718) under new management. Not good, not recommended and I am not going back.
The food is mediocre and over priced. The hostess was snotty and dressed like a working girl. The atmosphere was 80’s Vegas at best. The service was not awful but the servers were openly rude to each other. There are plenty of much better steak houses in SATX don’t waste your time with this one.

Its not even called 1718 anymore. Its ace of steaks. White sheets over everything. No decor. Bright lights. Club music playing. Absolutely terrible…. OpenTable should make sure the restaurant is actually the restaurant and not a completely different place.
