Description

Marinitas presents a mixed dining experience that straddles the line between potential and disappointment. While the restaurant boasts a cozy atmosphere and attentive service, the food quality often leaves much to be desired. Diners have praised standout dishes like the Chicken Enchiladas and fresh chips and guacamole, while others lamented over poorly seasoned meats and lackluster tacos. Though the margaritas shine and the happy hour is commendable, inconsistent service and underwhelming food have led some to question the restaurant's sustainability. Despite its flaws, Marinitas retains a loyal following, with patrons hoping for a return to its former glory.

The chips and guacamole were outstanding—they make their own chips and guacamole, and you can tell they use fresh oil for frying, as nothing tasted stale or rancid. The guacamole was especially delicious, with generous chunks of avocado. The Chicken Enchiladas were the best I’ve ever had; they were simply perfect. Served baked in a lovely ceramic dish, they were covered in ample cheese and a delightful sauce. It was nice to enjoy such an ancient dish, originally created by the Mayans, treated with such care by this restaurant. I also tried a Miraval Rosé Prosecco, which our waitress recommended. She was very accommodating when I asked for two extra baskets of tortilla chips. The Rosé was one of the finest I’ve tasted, and I’m quite particular about sparkling wines! The glass was generously filled, which many places don’t offer. The service was exceptional throughout my visit. I only wish the restaurant had a sign to draw attention to itself, as it's located right across from a busy shopping and dining area. The last great Mexican restaurant I experienced was Zacalo Restaurant Midtown in downtown Sacramento. It's unfortunate that San Francisco, with its 25% Latino population, has so few good Mexican restaurants outside of the Mission, especially ones that are as beautiful and well-maintained as Marinitas.

Service was very good, very attentive. Ordered the Carnitas Dinner Plate. Big basket of warm, light, crispy and delicious tortilla chips. The verde/roja salsas were flavorful and delicious. The atmosphere is nice, very high ceilings, dark, lots of finished wood. This would be a great place to take a date. The carnitas is served on a bed of black beans and served with onion and cotija cheese on top. The quality of the ingredients is very good. My only gripe with the meal is the carnitas should have been seasoned better, it was on the bland side. The service really stood out. I will definitely come back here, though I would try something different on the menu. Highly recommend Marinitas.Vegetarian options: The menu had many vegetarian options

Simply the worst food I can imagine the carnitas was served in a plate of black bean gravy the pork tasted a week old and what’s worse than old pork crispy then soaked in bean gravy disgusting.
