The restaurant was not busy at all at noon on a Thursday afternoon. We sat inside and were not acknowledged at all for our 12:15pm reservation. We had to walk around the restaurant until someone noticed us. The food was tasty, the wait staff was much more attentive than the host, and our server kindly made substitutions to our dishes. What Linda Michelsen doesn't like about Rustic House - San Carlos:
It was a windy day so we decided to dine indoors. However, we were told that all the reservations for inside were filled up, despite seeing empty tables. We were initially seated near a barking dog, so we had to move a third time. The food was delicious and the waiter was excellent, but the service was a bit slow. Oysters and grilled artichoke were delicious! And the service was great. As soon as we sat down, they brought us water and even brought our 2 kiddos water too in cups with straws. We also got the Rustic House pasta, so good. Even dipped the bread in the broth. Great waiter, very friendly, helpful, and checked on us often.
Drinks were great. Service and food were good as well
Food very good. Loved the prawn appetizer. Service was very slow… took forever to get my drink. Very short staffed. Great band playing on the patio. Made up for the poor service! Overall a fun night. But not cheap so keep that in mind!
Horrible service,: The extremely tall host just sit there without saying hello waited for us to say hello and to mention our reservation all he had to say was follow me. A server took 15 minutes to stop at our table only because we requested service in the response was are you in a hurry. The food was lackluster and extremely expensive for mediocre food. Training all staff is highly recommended and taste testing from appetizers all the way to dessert should occasionally be tested as well because it needs a lot of improvement.
Fresh oysters, pasta, tacos, fish and chips. All tasty! I will come back soon.
