While some found the portions to be pricey and quality to be lacking, others praised the attentive staff and overall ambiance of the restaurant. The menu features a variety of sushi rolls and Japanese dishes, with highlights including the beef tartar and sautéed king trumpet mushrooms. Although some dishes may be hit or miss, the general consensus is that Ozumo is a solid option for those looking for a casual yet upscale dining experience. Whether you're a fan of sushi or Japanese whiskey, Ozumo has something for everyone.
Ozumo in Oakland was much better! The gyoza tasted weird and we had to send back the Spider Roll. The prices are over the top and the quality was just not there. We went during the happy hour but had to eat at the bar to get that menu and the waiter didn't offer us a table over there. The dragon roll and CA roll were the best and the rest was just ok. I wouldn't go back.. pretty disappointed
We ordered about appetizers and en entry and several sushi nigiri. Pretty disappointed with the food. Sushi was served cold should be room temperature, not cut well and didn't taste like much. The remaining dishes were average. Not worth the price.Would not recommend
The server was polite and often checked on my table. Reserving a table was easy with OpenTable and the restaurant honored my request for a specific table
Needed to eat quickly as we had a show to catch. Our waiter was attentive, and the service was great. Food was wonderful, and will definitely recommend Ozumo to all my friends
The food was pretty good, if pricey, and the ambiance was OK. So why the review? Because the waiter, probably following restaurant policy, paced the meal terribly. When one pays in excess of for a fancy meal for two, one expects to have time to enjoy one's meal an hour and a half is typical at fine dining establishments. But this restaurant, apparently under the impression that their competition is McDonald's, strived to serve our entire meal of or dishes in under minutes. And they would have succeeded too, if I hadn't sent back two of the dishes to be served at a more appropriate time, which the waiter interpreted as minutes later. This would be an especially bad place to take a date unless the goal is to get out of the restaurant as quickly as possible and onto other things since you certainly won't have time for meaningful conversation. One final note: this is also not a good place for coffee lovers, since they don't serve it a pointless false authenticity as they drink plenty of coffee in Japan
