It was my parents 69th wedding anniversary. My Dad is 94 mom 92. We had a wonderful table for 6, our server and the whole meal was excellent. They really made our celebration special and we appreciate their kindness to our elders. We've been to the restaurant before and we will continue to come. Thank you View all feedback.
What OpenTable Diner doesn't like about 888 Italiano:
Service was not friendly. I had to ask for a glass of wine. Once we ordered food server never came back until food was served. Never saw the server. I had to find the server to tell him I had a bug that was in my wine glass. Didn’t even respond to the bug in the glass. I would think as a courtesy he would have brought me a fresh glass of wine. Nope. Over all experience was so poor. I was hosting the people that were... View all feedback.
Always an excellent Italian meal in an intimate, casual atmosphere. one of the best restaurants on the island.
Eat and service always consistent. I had no bad meal there.
We enjoyed many great meals at 888, and yesterday was not an exception. great ingredients, professional preparation, interesting recipes, an easily accessible setting. highly recommended. it is not local for me, or we would be here or more every week.
This is one of our favorite restaurants! Can't wait to go again.
Our weekly date night and decided to try this restaurant based on online reviews. Restaurant is small and intimate. I counted 11 tables indoors and a few more outside. Staff was very cordial but busy (apparently they were down an employee per our waiter). We started with soup of the day which was butternut squash. It was served hot and was tasty, but not as good as I have had elsewhere. In their defense, the soup was vegan so I might be missing the cream and butter featured in other versions. Main course was chicken Marsala for me and chicken parmigiana for my companion. Both were served with Gorgonzola mashed potatoes, green beans and chard. The parmigiana sauce was too tomatoey for me( in fairness I’m not a fan of most red sauces since to me they lack depth of flavor) but my companion who routinely orders this in Italian restaurants, said it was one of the best he’s had. My Marsala was excellent and the mashed potatoes were exquisite. They comes with lumps of potato in them, usually a bad thing, but not in this case. Vegetables were green beans which were good and disappointing Swiss chard(flavorless Joe’s in Half Moon Bay makes the best). For dessert we split a serving of bread pudding served with vanilla gelato. This was a mistake. Having to share this fabulous dessert puts too much stress on a relationship. Community property be damned. I want my own!!!
