View all feedback.
What Alvera Sporer doesn't like about Château du Mont Joly:
Beautiful hotel and surrounds, pleasant rooms. However disappointed with restaurant, as we had to wait for a long time at the table for every course. Breakfast was very limited and expensive. View all feedback.
On a tour to Burgundy we stopped at this restaurant in the area of Dole, a short detour from the highway. It had been recommended to us by locals as one of the best Michelin star restaurants in the area. During the week they have...a great, fairly priced lunch special including wine and water. Our daily lunch included dishes with foie gras, macarons and three kinds of strawberry as one of the deserts. The chef is a real magician and the service very professional and attentive. The view from the restaurant into the garden of this star hotel is beautiful.
We stayed one night in the Pruneaux room, which had a lovey view of the gardens and a big whirpool bath. It wasn't warm enough to have a swim, but the tree garden was very pretty and pleasing for a pre dinner stroll. Dinner was...a gastronomic feast with the ubiquitous amuse bouches before starters and dessert, then petit fours after dessert! Very talented cooking with real surprises. Perfect for a one night stop to try the food and nip into Dole for the day, which is a beautiful town. Breakfast was served in a kitchen style room so that you felt as though you were staying at a friends house. Simple continental, but after the nights dinner, you don't need much more.

Make sure you book a table if you are staying as would be a shame to miss out on such amazing food, wine and service.
Simply superb. We had the Chef's surprise lunch and loved every morsel. It was always going to get five stars but what tipped it into the one of the best meals you've ever had category was the dessert. The local Jura wines (chosen by the...chef to match the food) were superb and the service was perfect. A real joy.
