We visited for breakfast after school drop off and although the young girl needs to brush up a lot in her customer services skills the food was amazing.. herbed mushrooms on sourdough bread with bacon and spinach was utterly amazing.. this place would be a gold mine if the customer service was a lot better..would definitely head back for the food.. thank you chef!! What User doesn't like about Cafe Lagarto:
We used to be very regular diners at this cafe. However menu changes and drop in care for customers has caused us to become ex-customers. Final straw was this morning. We followed our usual routine... late breaky at 10/10:30. We know that the breakfast menu finishes at 11...we arrived at 10:30. However as we sat we were told that breakfast was already finished and the only items available were coffee and cake. Signs... View all feedback.
Eggs Benedict without bacon or ham is Eggs Florentine. This is the only place I have visited in Australia that charges an extra $5 for a complete eggs Benedict. That’s $23 for a breakfast with catering pack hollandaise. Better alternatives in Samford
The toast was burnt, and they were reluctant to replace it. They take a long time to produce the food. The staff mean well, it would seem, but I think they can't get enough staff, or good cooks in the kitchen
We came here on Tuesday for a family lunch after our father’s funeral by the way it was our Dad’s favourite cafe in Samford), the ambience was just lovely, we sat on the deck, beautiful view, peaceful, lovely gardens, nursery to look out onto. We enjoyed a delicious lunch with usual meals on the menu that were scrumptious, drinks and coffees served by very attentive and thoughtful staff. We pottered around the nursery and into the shop to buy a gorgeous felt mushroom house and fairies for my cousin’s little granddaughter every little girl’s dream. We felt so relaxed, something our Dad would have wanted for us so…..thank you. You are blessed with such a lovely venue keep up the good work to other customers who complain about the wait and staff just remember we all have to learn and start somewhere). Thank you from my family, we’re coming back for a belated Father’s Day next weekend. PS : it rain on the day, bungalow 110% waterproof, lovely blankets to keep us warm and toasty.
We had a reservation at 9:00 (arrived 8:30, traffic was great) traveled 55 mins to get to Cafe Lagarto, told to come back at reserved time (understandable, they were busy). We looked around the garden and gift shop, lovely. When our group of 6 came back at he allotted time, we were told to look for our table over that area no reservation sign on the table. We then ordered coffees at 9:05 arrived 20 minutes later, warm a best, ordered food at 9:10 order came at 10:00 looked great but was cold. We ate it anyway as we were hungry and didn 't want to wait another hour for our food. The wait staff were wonderful and obviously trying their best whilst needing help for the crowd. I was under the impression that if you made a reservation, then your group was planned for and as such wouldn 't have to wait for the smaller tables to be served first, as I witnessed with 2 tables around us they came in after us and got their meal and were leaving as our meals arrived.
We recently had breakfast at this restaurant and are not sure what issues the people below seem to be having. The food was excellent (especially the unique and divine ricotta donut dish), the coffee was good, and the service was great. The peaceful setting on the deck surrounded by the greenery of the garden nursery is lovely. With various interesting businesses nearby to explore, including artworks, a large gift shop, a garden nursery, a yarn shop, and a farm walk for kids in the back, this place offers more than just a cafe for breakfast or lunch. We will definitely be returning for more visits with friends.
