I found this place about a year ago and have returned time and time again for their great sushi. The chefs are fun and friendly and the sushi is some of the best in Salt Lake City. Sometimes the wait staff can be a little...inattentive but the service is friendly and still not too bad. Order the Tsunami Shrimp and the Tsunami Roll my two favorite menu items. Also, if you like squid/seaweed salad, this place has it do... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Tsunami:
I had a large party there for a birthday! Not recommended! Our waitress must have not completed her GED. She couldn't remember anything and she offended our party by saying inappropriate things. On top of that, she patted one of my guests on the head several times. I don’t recommend their service and their food is fare to moderate try Mikado. The girls organizing it were nice but it stops there! Our table couldn't be... View all feedback.
I thought this was an over priced nightmare. I had a really bad experience. The meal, the service, the atmosphere... all in my opinion crappy. If anyone asks me what the worst sushi I have ever had was, I will say Tsunami in Sugarhouse. Sorry but you guys need to try harder.
I felt like I was in a typical strip mall sushi joint with an apathetic staff who take turns unsmilingly delivering plates to my table. They definitely aren't trying to be anything special at Tsunami, which is a puzzling name for a restaurant, but how were they to know, right? The food was average with above average prices, especially when your view is a parking lot and a dollar movie theatre. I’m digging for something positive to say here, but it was a very blah experience for a lot of money.

The girls organizing it were nice but it stops there! Our table couldn't believe how ditsy they were being here! I was throwing my husband a birthday dinner and the server made a sexual comment to my husband after he said I want something sizzling. She was beyond over the line and after confronted, she couldn't fairly apologize and blew it off!
This is the first time I've been to Tsunami. The sushi was excellent. By far the freshest fish I've had compared to other SLC sushi restaurants. The prices are pretty fair considering the quality of the fish, the excellent taste, nice decor, and great service. Me and my friends shared a bunch of rolls, there wasn’t a single one we didn't disliked (we ordered about 6-7 of them). We also thoroughly enjoyed the ribs. I would highly recommend it to anyone, even if you're afraid of raw fish--the menu offers plenty of alternatives. One of my friends who doesn't like fish got the chicken teriyaki, and loved it.
