I have visited here twice and have enjoyed the elevated seating area and the food. My second visit I enjoyed the delicious fried chicken as I listen to the beautiful saxophone music filling the room. This is truly a friendly family and friends place to be as you may dine as I did on a Sunday afternoon. View all feedback.
This is probably the BEST soul food restaurant I’ve ever been to in my life and that’s saying something because I’m originally from Georgia. The ambience is very unique and inviting and makes you feel like you’re right at home. Our waitress Ruth was so amazing. She was very polite and knowledgeable about the menu and was patient with us as we were indecisive about what to get because everything looked so delicious. Let me first start off about the sweet tea. This sweet tea is the type of tea that your grandma made back in the day. Not that watery watered down type of tea the other restaurants serve. It was so delicious and Ruth made sure our cups never ran empty. I had to make sure that I got a to go cup with no ice in it to make sure I can relive the flavor. My partner and I ended up ordering the special with the half rack, ribs and the chicken that came with two sides. The ribs were so tender that the meat was practically falling off the bone. I’m not sure what barbecue sauce they use, but it definitely was so good it made you lick your fingers. The chicken was seasoned just right and tasted so good as well Now on the sides. Finally some mac cheese that taste like some southern mac cheese. Not the watery box mac and cheese that these other restaurants try to serve. This Mac and cheese was the definition of perfection. The collard greens were delicious as well. It tasted good without it, but I appreciate a restaurant that gives you vinegar and hot sauce to put on your collard greens. And last but not least the yams. Oh my gosh, the yams are off the chain. Yams so good it makes you want to slap your momma. I had to order some to go, just so I can eat it for dinner later when I got back to my hotel. The Candied Yam is an all around five star restaurant for me and anytime. I’m back in the Salisbury area or near the Salisbury area. I’m definitely coming back to this place because it can’t be no longer kept a secret.
My wife and I stopped in for dinner about a hr before they closed , wasn’t crowded so we got a table with ease. Sweet tea was good, our honey old bay wing appetizer was amazing , My wife had the smothered chops and I had the turkey burger , other than my fries not being fresh , everything was superb. Our server Kaylee was awesome
The food was delicious! The prices were reasonable. The waiter was great. He accommodated a party of I have 12, however, the atmosphere was very warm. The AC unit may needed some work. It made us as guest thirsty and the waiter had to work hard bringing us drinks while our meals were being prepared.
