I visited this restaurant for the first time and I know I'll be coming back! The food was delicious! I was curious about the small dish of sauce that accompanied the chips and salsa, so I asked about it. I learned it was refried beans. Although it seemed a bit thin for refried beans, it tasted fantastic with the chips! My husband ordered the Mexico City platter, while I enjoyed the pollo con crema. We also tried the... What Akshay K doesn't like about Agave Azul Mexican Cuisine:
This Mexican restaurant is quite ordinary. There's nothing particularly special about it, and it’s overpriced for the quality of food you receive. The beans seemed to be canned, as did the jalapeños. While the service was good, that’s the only positive aspect. The place itself is a bit worn down, and overall, it doesn't offer much to see. I would recommend checking out other options instead. Just visiting the area. Best Mexican food I've eaten. I order El Rey. Just the right amount of cheese, salt spices. Service was excellent.
Warm tortilla chips served with fresh salsa and a luscious whipped bean (salsa? Whatever you call it, its delicious! My wife went with the more vegetarian spinach enchiladas which she said were very good. My meal, while good really lacked a strong flavor. My meal came with a taco which was pretty plain and lackluster, it was reminiscent of and Old El Paso taco kit. The enchilada I had was also pretty pedestrian as well. Then however I got to the part that made up for all the rest. The tamale was definitely packed with flavor all over. This was the star of the show and would suggest anyone in the area looking for traditional Mexican food, skip the tacos and get a plate of tamales. You'll thank me later.
Stopped in for lunch a few weekends ago and had a good experience. Food was pretty good as were the drinks and service. Very clean and spread everyone out for Covid. We will be back.
The first time we went it food and service were great. This time however, service was still great (hence the 2 stars) however we saw a mouse under a table and behind the booths, we let them know and were understanding and just moved tables. The owner let us know they have a weekly exterminator which means they are trying I guess but it also means they have a problem. We got the tortilla soup and the steak fajitas, the soup was bland and the tortillas were old, falling apart, and obviously thawed in the microwave. The steak was not good for the $19 It cost and it was lacking seasoning. We ended up getting up to leave without paying but giving our waiter a little tip.
Great place for lunch or dinner, always friendly staff, very good service and prices, quality food and conditions, clean and professional, excellent for cocktails and convenient conversation.
