Windjammers - Salem
Windjammers
Description
Windjammer’s neighborhood bar blends cozy dive-bar charm with attentive moments and uneven service. Regulars praise quick, friendly bartenders, low-priced drinks, video poker and karaoke, plus satisfying burgers and tater tots. Food quality varies—favorites like the Hawaiian burger shine, while fries, stroganoff and ribs can disappoint—and pizza has been removed. Accessibility and staff demeanor appear inconsistent. Ideal for locals, night owls and budget diners seeking a casual late-night spot, but expect occasional misses.

The bartender was extremely friendly. We ordered a Hawaiian burger with Tater Tots, which was absolutely delicious. We also tried the French fries with sweet potatoes, and everything was fantastic. We'll definitely be back!
The customer service was excellent. The Sriracha burgers and fried pickles were also tasty!
My experiences at this restaurant were always enjoyable with the regular bartenders, Kim and Meaghan. However, I wouldn't recommend going back if Stephanie is working. My first encounter with her was disappointing, and it felt like an indication of high turnover. It was the worst experience I've had anywhere. If you're unhappy in your job, maybe it's time for a change. It might be better to avoid nights without karaoke if that's the case. Unless you prefer a slow night with a bartender who seems disinterested, I would suggest skipping those evenings.
The food was fantastic! However, the service was quite poor. The two bartenders were incredibly slow and ineffective, even though the place wasn't busy. We took an Uber to the restaurant, but if we had driven ourselves, we likely would have left for another venue. I give 5 stars for the food and only 1 star for the service.
I've always enjoyed my visits here, especially with the regular bartenders, Kim and Meaghan. However, I won't be returning if Stephanie is behind the bar. This was my first experience with her, and it was disappointing. She may be new, which could explain her lack of engagement, but it felt like the worst experience I've had anywhere. If she truly dislikes her job that much, it might be worth considering a change. I would advise avoiding nights when there isn’t karaoke, as it seems to result in a slow atmosphere with a bartender who seems more interested in being anywhere else.
