Hawaiian Time - Salem

We were here a few times, and we were disappointed more and more. Ordering lines were always really long. Chicken is coarse, fat and strict. They got rid of their beef menu options and we were not in a long time because it, but I tried it again and not back today. It was said 10 minutes were waiting for food. In 25 minutes I finally asked about the status. Girls at the counter just went away and started talking to kitchen staff. A kitchen staff came out to ask what I needed. I asked again about my order status. Another kitchen staff came out, the same interaction. She was finally told 5 minutes. I waited and got my food, but communication and customer service were terrible. No excuse for waiting. No excuse for bad communication. The employees were all very young and seemed very inexperienced. Where was the manager? Why did kitchen personnel stop to give me a status. Strange and unorganized chaos. It won't be back.

I'm sad they got rid of beef, but I love her chicken, so it's okay. Best Mac salad ever!

If you ever had Hawaiian Time, this place is just as delicious. It can be a bit busy, but plenty of space to sit or wait for your takeout order. Like most companies in these days they often appear shorthanded, there is often a sign in the window looking for workers, but the people who work tend to be really friendly and do their best to maintain.

I ordered the Huli Huli Chicken yesterday and it?s great! The only ?complain? I have is that there?s no other sides besides the Mac Salad and the chicken because the rice portion is a lot. I recommend that if you?re a small eater, you should share one regular sized plate with another person because that?s what I did and I?m already full! Besides the food, the ?waiting? part took a long time- maybe because there?s lots of people buying from there. In summary, I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to eat big portions of rice if they?re there!

I have tried huli huli chicken in Hawaii, at home, and several other places, but there was always something off with either the chicken, rice, or Macaroni salad. However, I am giving this place a 5-star rating because not only was the chicken delicious, but the rice and Macaroni salad were cooked perfectly! Normally, I find either the chicken and rice to be good, or a combination of the Macaroni salad and chicken, but never all three together. The chicken was tender and cooked perfectly, with just the right amount of spices to make it incredibly tasty. Unlike other places where the chicken can be too salty or saucy, this one was just right. I typically don't enjoy Macaroni salad, but this one was so good I could eat it all day. The pasta was cooked perfectly, creamy, and seasoned well. It was absolutely fantastic! As an Asian, rice is very important to me, and the rice at this place was outstanding. I need to know where they source it from! This is a must-visit place. I'm not a fan of Salem, but for this food, I would make the trip weekly, even though I live an hour away. Be prepared for a long wait, but it is definitely worth it!
