What a surprise nearly ate at tapas 2 last night but rude staff changed that tried this tonight and what a difference absolutely delightful, helpful and charming staff as well as great food a world apart would definitely go back but our last night in Salamanca!
We ate here because of good reviews and Michelin rated but was disappointed, we had 12 dishes between us and thought they were average at best
This place is in the Michelin guide for good reason. Fabulous attentive service, great interesting food both tapas and raciones. Good short wine list. Highly recommended. Not particularly expensive.
We ate here on the front end of the evening, and there were only a few occupied tables. The service was pleasant but inattentive, not just for us. We had 4 small portions – two were very good (Patatas bravas, Albondigas de ciervo), and two were ok (Ensaladiilla russa, Bunuelos de merluza). The recommended wine was decent. Given the high ratings of the restaurant, we were rather disappointed.
Locals go here, this tapas bar has truly great food moist and very tasty jamón croquetas, amazing ensaladilla rusa, super tasty fried calamari with lime peel, white beans with shrimp and octopus cooked in a sauce that has chorizo (OMG!!! , boletos (mushroom risotto, huevos rotos (fries topped with fried eggs and ibérico ham … and to finish French toast made with brioche and “possibly the flan (custard in the world”, statement you will definitely agree with. Our service was good, the server was polite and very nice. Possible the best part of the experience was Paloma’s wine list. We are wine lovers and this list is EXTRAORDINARY. Covers all price ranges, from a fantastic red wine recommendation at 17.5€ to a Vega Sicilia Único 2009. The selections, red white bubbles, reflect a very deep knowledge of the best wines and producers in Spain’s main DOCs. It is simply astonishing Paloma is without a doubt, a diamond in the rough. She’s put together a wine list that outperforms most very high end restaurants we’ve been to around the world. And then, to finish, she also had Oremus Aszu Tokaji… and this is her second job. Just amazing! We went to Tapas 3.0 recommended by a local, don’t miss this small tapas place, it is excellent!
