The town was packed and we were looking for some lunch. We got into the Bar Au Domino and had traditional half baguettes with ham or cheese or butter. They tasted great, just what we needed. The drinks were reasonable. The staff were friendly, but...extremely busy. A great place to eat. View all feedback.
What Jeannine Tessier doesn't like about Bar Au Domino:
Good place to take a break from touring. Off on the side but that makes it less crowded. Try to be in St-Mere-Eglise when no tour buses are there...makes a huge difference. View all feedback.
Nice bar, overlooking the town's square and its church. Not a fancy or posh place, but excellent for having a coffee or a beer. Customers are a mix of tourists and local people which adds to the charm of this place. Helpfull people: we asked for a tray of water for our dog and he got his drink first ;)
My French is good, but when the lady behind the counter saw I was a tourist she went to extremem lengths to make a fool of my French. I was very surprised, but I guess too many tourists and locals begin to treat them like theier just there for mony. Really disappointing. I noted also that some people had very dirty clothes in the resteraunt, one was a chef, I hope he didn't cook the food. What a disappointment!
Genuine café that brought me back to the good old days. Had a very good sandwich and an icecold beer. Nice dog, Bora.
Like most people, we were visiting the D-day town of St Mere Eglise. Unfortunately most of the cafes and restaurants looked unappealing, we were short on time so dropped into Bar Au Domino. The seats are all torn and worn out, the general appearance is tired, grubby and unwelcoming. We ordered 2 hot chocolates and 2 cheeses and ham panini, the service was quick enough but the food disappointing, 12" baguette with sparing ham and cheese microwaved landed on the table. Tasteless, not a panini and way over priced. We ate quickly and left after paying €19 for 2 drinks and sandwiches, extortionate. It's a disgrace that most of the establishments in this town are purely profiteering from the circumstance of people wishing to visit an historical war memorial. Hardly the way to conduct yourself!
My son and I visited the town to learn about its history and we got hungry so we stopped by this place and all the were serving at the time was drinks and crissonts well my 5 year old son need something more to substantial to avoiding a melt down so we found d a sandwich shop around the corner and then I wanted coffe so we went back to domino so I could leave he coffee we went in my son sat down and I went to order a large coffee. Right behind me my son pulled out his tuna sandwich and started to eat while I was ordering I asked for a large coffee then the old bag refused to serve me and said I should buy a crissont and that other food was not allowed which I completely understand but what they offered for food was completely unacceptable to give my child and she was so rude to me and would not let me buy anything so I took my son and we went elsewhere. My advice don't go here the old lady is super rude and doesn't deserve to serve anyone, she should go out of business!!!!!!
