Le Cabaretou - Saint-Pons-de-Thomières

Chanced upon this delightful little place while driving through the Haut Languedoc and stopped off for lunch. Very glad we did. A warm welcome, simple but excellent food, good wine and from the terrace where we were sitting the most amazing view you could imagine, south east across the mountains all the way to the Pic St Loup (above Montpellier) and the Mont St.Clair of Sete. In short, a perfect place for lunch on a fine sunny day. Would be ideal to stop over here for a day or two if they offered rooms. Alas, our friendly waiter explained that they'd only taken over the Auberge a few months ago, and the previous owners left the guest rooms in such poor condition that they couldn't currently afford to rehabilitate them. But one day, perhaps....

Found this place through tripadvisor. If not, I might have passed it. Luckely we had lunch. Although entering late, both the waiter and the chef were really friendly and helpful. The food was really good and the advise on the matching wine as well. I am thinking of going back again.

Auberge typique, personnel accueillant , cuisine simple et familiale, des frites qui font le bonheur de nos petits enfants, bref çà vaut le détour !!

Petite auberge avec une vue panoramique juste splendide.un peu déçu par mon saumon trop cuit mais le reste très bon pour l accueil agréable je le recommande
