We heard about this restaurant and made a stop on a Sunday to the small town of Saint Paul. So glad we made it! Service was exceptional and attentive. We had a Sunday dinner with dessert and a drink. One of our parties had the baked chicken and it was moist and tasty seasoned. The green beans were delicious and the side salad was fresh. The beautiful cabbage was DEEEELicious! Fish was slightly baked and very tasteful. Also tries shrimp...WOW! It's worth the trip! The deserts were as good as your grandma did! Fudge cakes to die for, homemade cheesecake and yellow cakes with vanillaicing. Woo-whee! Tarpackers is a winner!

Aside from thi... read more Tarpackers is a quaint restaurant that, constructively, could use much inside renovations. This appears to be the lack of upkeep over many years. Aside from this necessity, the restaurant was clean and my meal was super delicious even thoughthe wait was unusually long even with few people dining in. I think maybe one chef was on duty and has to accommodate several to-go orders. The chef 's preparation and presentation of our meals made the wait worthwhile. Now, I think if the kitchenmechanics are not upgraded and not restored as the dining area, surely the chef has to be dealing with insurmountable challenges TOTALLY out of their control. I plan to return especially when time and appearance is not an issue; a little bit ofpaint, floor and bathroom restorations will work wonders for Tarpackers. The service, the food and presentation wasOUTSTANDING in an excellent way! If customer services, cleanliness and pride cooking is most desired by you as is me, this isthe place to dine! Just writing about my experiences arouses my return in spite of their urgent need for a good, localhandyman. SPECIAL NOTE: All of the above is on a big positive scale; the customers are worth it! We ordered two appetizers: the Rah Rah Shrimp and the Fried Mushrooms. For our lunch specials, we had meatloaf and baked chicken. We also indulged in the peanut butter pie for dessert. Everything was served hot, fresh, and absolutely delicious. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive.
