What Josephine Walter doesn't like about Boca Chica's Taco House:
I ordered 4 of their regular size churro's and they gave me the minnis I even asked for it to be the regular churro's and the person who took my order didn't confirm that if I wanted the minnis. Lastly when my churro's came out most of them were cold in the middle but by the time I even ate one I was already away from the place it wasn't even ten minutes after I received my order and started walking away. The food was, as always, absolutely delicious. On this particular day, it seemed the air conditioning was broken because the dining area was sweltering, so we opted to sit at the counter near the soda machine. Despite that, we had a wonderful time overall, and the food was incredibly satisfying. I ordered the combo meal that comes with a tostada, and it was fantastic. However, I've noticed that the cashiers in recent visits seemed somewhat unhappy, which made me feel for them and almost prompted me to leave. But the food is just too good to resist! I really hope they either find more enthusiastic employees or learn to put on a cheerful front.
If you haven't heard of Taco House, I'm not sure what to tell you. This place has been around for as long as I can remember. The food is excellent, the service is fantastic, and the staff is very friendly. Honestly, you might want to think twice about going—if you end up liking it as much as I do, it might mean less food for me!
I only order takeout, but the food is consistently full of flavor.
I had arrived a little early and so I sat down at the bar to grab a tequila. Inadvertently sat down next to one of the co-owners and we talked about how his family had first built the restaurant in 1964! It was great hearing a few stories and learning about the history of the place and how it’s changed over time. Funny enough, I had thought I was ordering from their sister restaurant across the street. Wonderful mistake. The place knows exactly what it needs to be, and it’s a perfectly quirky aesthetic with a real sense of place and personality. That’s all to say, the food was quite tasty and we ordered a variety of things from Tex Mex to traditional fair. It was made all the better by knowing that I was ordering from a local family restaurant.
Nice little restaurant great food good service friendly staff
