Les Gastropodes - Saint-Ouen

I just wanted to have a Smashburger and fries. We're in the Paris flea market. I was over hungry. So I said what the heck let's try this place. Before I tried it I looked it up on yelp. 4.3, my kind of score. so Smashburger in Paris France we go. It was excellent.

Food was good; a decent burger and good fries. But way overpriced for what it is. Two burgers with fries and cokes shouldn't cost close to 50€ at a takeout stall, and one where the only option to order was self-serve through a screen, like a McDonald's.

Possibly the best place to get food in this area of St. Ouen. Les Gastropodes is a small place right on Marche Dalphin (this massive and rather expensive market in the Paris flea market area), order and pay before you sit, and they shall deliver. Nice market ambiance, not expensive by Parisian standards (although Porte de Clingancourt/St Denis is a Maghrebi Arab area so you can hit kebab joints for even less), not much service to speak of, but the cooking speaks for itself. The hanger steak was grilled to perfection and served with maison frites, the cod filet in sauce was served with new potatoes and carrots, both are excellent and a delight upon the senses. Their pear tart has a tasty buttery crust and sweet but well textured pears and is an excellent coda to a meal. Yep, this is probably the easiest buying decision here, so don't walk past it! Oh, and watch out for a very blatant tourist trap nearby it's a kitschy restaurant with a live band belting music standards and soliciting for tips...avoid that one at all costs.
