Excellent reception. Nice presentation of the plates. The terrace is too small and very close to the roundabout and traffic. The midday formula is a very good value for money. On the other hand, if the meal is chosen by the card the note is in my opinion too high. View all feedback.
What Roland Godefroy doesn't like about Brasserie Les Capucines:
Correct kitchen, but it wasn't just a year ago. The establishment was exceptional, it became common. Beautiful location, bright room, pleasant terrace in the summer even if it is given immediately on a busy crossroads. View all feedback.
This is a typical French brasserie, especially for the locals. very busy, beautiful atmosphere. Sitting quite narrow. excellent price/performance. take the daily menu! can strongly recommend
We don't get to St Lô very often but needing lunch we decided to revisit Les Capucines after a long absence. It has a good reputation locally and I can well understand why. It is the junior relative to the Michelin.starred restaurant on the floor...above and although it might claim to be traditional French it borrows from other cuisines quite freely with the added bonus of a lightness of touch. We went for the cheapo lunch menu at 14€50 for two courses. Both the entrées were soups strangely enough but quite different I had a bouillon a Thai flavoured light broth full of millefeuille vegetables and prawns. My wife's more traditional French fish soup which had a floating island of rouille topped with a blob of cream sprinkled with chopped chives and accompanied by croutons. Verdict? Best I've had'. There was no choice for the main course blanquette de veau (veal stew normally in a cream sauce). This was a much lighter version with a thin broth and a good selection of root and other vegetables, perfectly cooked. We could have had a dessert -which was French apple tart. We settled for a coffee -again excellent. Tasty food with a light touch excellent service. We got there early but it is advisable too book. By 1 pm it was full and humming and with good reason.
Very enjoyable experience. We were served by Oumar who was a credit to the restaurant. Since being in Paris we’ve found a lot of the waiting staff to be quite rude, but not Oumar and the other staff at the restaurant. They were great! The...food was also very nice the Oysters were fresh and muscles from the daily specials menu were fantastic. Credit to all involved in our wonderful experience.
Once they had eaten at l’intuition, the mirelin had been in the upper floor a restaurant under the same place where the meal was simply amazing, I hoped that some of it would be visible in the brasserie. we booked on Friday night when the restaurant was quite busy....In the future we sat immediately, given menus and had taken our order immediately. while the drinks arrived quickly enough, eating took its time. the dishes focus on many local specialities and ingredients that are great, and for the greatest part they are well realized. but the courts all seem to be missing. I ordered the trip that is a fairly dry piece of meat, it was accompanied by roasted potato and a small sauce, nowhere near enough for the amount neither sausage nor cartoffeln. the three salat pieces did not help. while the ribs, and the fish has enough soak for the meat, they also lack sweet. only the salads had something green. desserts were nothing special, which is a pity, because I still dream of the dessert from l’intuition. for the price, they are much better not pay a bit more and go up.
We found this place by chance. left the hotel and wandered around the aquaria after a place with an attractive menu. then we saw the menu item that we carved most: mustels and ries. nice warmer reception than we arrived. many local people eat there. no need for a menu, but the desserts looked tempting. wonderful steaming bowls of mushes. salty pommes. cold beer. paradies in wedtern frankreich. Yes, of course we went to dessert. that never regretted it. only a great place.
