What Martin Guillet doesn't like about Château de Pizay:
beautiful place, in the middle of the vineyards, friendly welcome. but the annexes or the rooms are a little disappointing, mini bar not cold, a little bad way in the finishes for a 4-star it is a little limit. the restaurant very good gastro, but long at service, 45 min before having something on the table, red wine from the excellent domain, very nice waiters! The dining area can be quite big, catering to large groups like company dinners, marriages and the like. They seated us and the rest of the few hotel guests into a very cozy and intimate corner. The cuisses de grenouilles were succulant, the omble chevalier perfect, however the lobster under a crust of nuts was a bit heavy, too much. Service is perfect and friendly. We had a night cap in the bar afterwards and were the only ones.
We arrived quite late having flown into Lyon, collected the hire car and driven up to Pizay however we were in time for dinner. There seemed to be several dining rooms in the old part of the Chateau one of which appeared to be hosting some sort of function. The room we were in was part of the old bit of the Chateau with a very high wooden beamed ceiling much of which was painted with what appeared to be local scenes. We were shown to a table by the Head Waiter and provided with menus. We chose a bottle of the Chateau’s own Beaujolais which was nothing spectacular and then selected some food. The food was excellent, very ‘Nouvelle Cuisine’ delicious and beautifully presented if a little small as far as portion sizes were concerned.
We become accustomed to the restaurant, it's so good! a beautiful summer evening on the terrace is so pleasant and charming, in addition we saw the chef at the end of the meal
Very pretty plate, gives itself a lot of bad, but the very average culinary result for such a very friendly expensive staff price. But the menu should be between 15 and 20 € cheaper
Meal not quite copied even for a gourmet cuisine report high price better choose from the menu I think the dishes are a little more copied a little disappointed by the restaurant
