Booked a table 4 days in advance of our visit book early as it’s very popular and arrived to a warm greeting and shown to our table without delay. What Glenn A doesn't like about Le Galeta:
Called in and tried too book a table. After the maitre 'd shuffled through the bookings, offered us a 9pm slot in 3 days time. After asking, in fluent french if there was an earlier booking the day after, was told 'non ' then said, ok we 'd take the 9pm, the was told 'non, merci '. I thought French restaurants had moved on from their famous grumpy owners and staff, but apparently not. I 'll never go to this restauran... View all feedback.
This is a fun, alpine chalet style place with a crowd pleasingly wide menu and hard working staff. My wife and I were recommended it by our hotel and we were glad to have gone for dinner. We had the €32 Galete menu 3 courses with three choices for each. If you choose to, you can cook your own main course at the table. Portions were good and the food was fresh and well presented. At €85 total for two, including 3 glasses of local wine and a bottle of sparkling water, we felt it was good value. The only fly in the ointment (NOT the restaurant’s fault) was the large table of very noisy young British kids next to us. Come on, English parents, keep your children out of earshot.
I had been meaning to go here for along time and finally managed it on our last trip to saint gervais. It was super from start to finish the whole experience from the amazing service to the wonderful food cooked over a wood fire in front of you, not cheap but worth it for a special treat .
What a happiness to enter this establishment with the setting of mountains located in the retreat of the center of Saint Gervais! Being greeted by a smiling and dedicated team, it is a real pleasure and that to say the dishes offered!!!! waou, a feast !a recommend without hesitation
Excellent restaurant - family atmosphere (we went there with a couple of friends and our 4 children) - dinner outside in front of the pretty cottage and the children were able to play in the garden of the resto all the evening beautiful map and very good products - resto below the main square of st gervais away from traffic and noise - we are quickly compensated to redo without hesitation - impeccable service
With the delicacies of the aravis were served with steam potatoes that turned out not cooked, after warning the waitress the one changed them and oh stench the news was no more cooked than the first, call again to the waitress who desolates and tell us to go tell the cook but left us with our potatoes not cooked: is this professional good? Other ordered dish: the braid with three meats served with fries that were mostly very small and overcooked, we ate them without dare to warn the waitress. The salads served in the entrance contained a lot of salads!Note that we were offered graciously a genepi at the end of the meal
