I was so surprised to see this place only has 2 stars! Went there tonight arriving at about 8:45pm, near closing, and it was AMAZING!! Ordered a small thin crust pizza and a salad bar. The salad bar was packed with all kinds of goodness and everything was super fresh! Our pizzas took only about 10 minutes and were delicious! But the cherry on top was the service!! Our waitress was out of this world AMAZING!! She was... View all feedback.
What Gary R doesn't like about Brick Oven Pizza:
They do have a big salad bar but we did not order that. If this is brick oven pizza then they have a bad oven or no brick. The dough seems to be preformed or machine pressed and the pizza is bland. Service was good but front design of the house leaves people standing in the lobby because no one can see them when they walk in. Not the worst pizza we have had but certainly not the best. We 've been here twice, both times while staying in the hotel nearby driving through. The food here has always been good...really love the pizza. Service, though, has always been lacking. We had two orders of the Heaps Sampler which promised try as much as you like pizza. We never saw the pizza. A guy was supposed to be going table to take but we never saw him...not did the table near us. Probably just a bad setup by the restaurant. Slow service and we got the wrong appetizer. (ツ) ¯. Still, love the pizza. We will probably get something different next time though.
During our recent trip to St. George, we stayed at the Hampton Inn across the street from Brick Oven. Failing to account for the time change, we realized it was suddenly pretty late and the kids hadn't had dinner yet. With only 25 minutes until closing, we called our order in. Since the kid on the phone said they weren't delivering any more for the night, we made our order for take out. I walked over to pick up about 15 minutes later and while it was clear the restaurant was closing soon, the manager took my payment and was prompt bringing out our order two large pizzas and two salads. Back at the hotel room, the pizza was fresh and good tasting... definitely better than chain franchise pizza. The salads were weak I added chicken for a couple of bucks, and there were maybe four tiny pieces of chicken... whatever. The kids scarfed down all the pizza, and left very little for us to steal from them. 2 star salads, 4 star pizza. After reading Yelp reviews, we opted not to dine in, but considering the convenience of the proximity to our hotel and the quality of the two large pizzas we ordered, we would certainly get take out here again.... probably pass on the salads to go, though.
Whoa! We weren 't ready for the unconventional buffet dining experience at Brick Oven Pizza. Saturday, 6pm on Thanksgiving weekend... probably not the best time to try a family restaurant, but we were out of options, having tried other local pizza places and been let down. First, the positives: We were quickly seated; our server, Zac, was polite; and the homemade root beer was good. We quickly learned that Brick Oven is the Chuck E. Cheese of St. George; with kids running around, sorting through the salad and soup bar help-yourself playground . Large tables filled with feasting families clamoring like little chicks, competing for a freshly caught worm that mother just brought to the nest; as servers pass by with trays of pizza served Chinese Dim Sum style. Dirty dishes were stacked across the tables as patrons waited impatiently for the next pizza carrying server, who seemed never to come by as frequently as they hoped. Chineses Dim Sum style restaurants have perfected the table-side Chinese food buffet model, as they keenly understand the needs of their guests. However, the table-side pizza buffet model fails miserably at Brick Oven Pizza on a Saturday night. Our meager table of three could not compete with the large tables of 8-16 guests, (which appeared to be their target market). After out first slice of cheese pizza, we didn 't see another pizza server for almost 15 minutes and unfortunately the rest of the evening went about the same. The pizza wasn 't the best; again, like Chuck E. Cheese, but better than Rigatti 's Pizza across town. After our first trip to the salad bar, we felt it was safer to just stay away. It kind of made you feel dirty . Staff was busy trying to keep up with the demand, while cleaning and retrieving croutons from containers of salad dressings, cucumber slices from the kidney beans and carrots from the dried cranberries. Not the best salad bar in town , as advertised... but actually a bit scary. We were hungry... and with only the Dim Sum pizza delivery to satisfy our cravings, we were disappointed. We came to the conclusion that the only satisfactory way to eat pizza and salad in this restaurant is to order your own pizza and bowl of salad for your table. ...but, did I mention the root beer was good... Zac was polite... and we were seated fairly quickly? Not sure if we 'll ever make it back to Brick Oven, but it 's very clear that they don 't live and die by their Yelp reviews and ratings; as evidenced by the 2 1/2 stars. The place was packed with patrons possessing indiscriminating palates and a penchant for paperboard pizza. Buon appetito?!
This place looks really nice both inside and outside and it's somewhat the first restaurant off the highway. I came here in hopes to carbo-load for Ironman St. George, what I left with was some disappointment. I ordered the margherita pizza and my girlfriend order the lasagna. The lasagna was a pretty large portion and tasted pretty good, but nothing that you couldn't make at home. The margherita pizza though, what a disaster. What I received was more or less bread with several pounds of cheese, which does not fit the definition of margherita pizza. I thought for sure it must have been a mistake. Nope, that's their margherita pizza. It's very clean and looks nice from the outside, but it's really not worth it. Perhaps the pasta bar and salad bar are where it's at, but the pizza is not on the level.
Left me feeling like WTF? So we got the pizza ,pasta soup salad unlimited buffet. Unless the rest of the city was closedsefor business, this isn't the place to go even then. I am hoping after one trip to the salad bar that I don't have food poisoning. Serving utensils had food caked on them, soup had a scary film over the top of it. The best part of this experience was the smell of great pizza wafting through the door as you enter, my booth smelled like someone tossed a load and I was next....ugh! Finally out of business!!
