Decent food, decent price, good wine list, pleasant service but the boss is too unpleasant for my taste even if he has the impression not to be. We were greeted with a reproach and not with a hello or a welcome, which seems to me to be the minimum when arriving in a restaurant. The reason is that we arrived at 4 instead of 5 and therefore potentially blocked a table (which otherwise remained empty). View all feedback.
What marie jeanne doesn't like about Auberge du Sapt:
Superb place, overlooking the dam. The room is warm and the service efficient, even a little too efficient. There were around twenty of us and we had pre-ordered our menus. People who had not taken the formula with aperitif and glass of wine were not offered an aperitif. The starters arrived almost at the same time as the few aperitifs. Impossible to know which wine was served with the formulas. The dish was OK but t... View all feedback.
My cousin's wife was kind enough to treat me and the rest of our family to a Sunday dinner at Auberge du Sapt, and from the moment we drove up Mount Pilatus and saw this homey stone building set against the beautiful view of mountains and open fields, I was absolutely in love. As we went for Sunday Dinner, there were only families eating there, and I do not believe I saw a group smaller than five people, so I cannot say for sure whether this restaurant caters to smaller groups, but I do not see why they would not. I ordered the "Menu casse-croûte" which was one of the cheaper meals at 14,80 €, so this place is considerably pricey, but trust me, the quantity and quality of the food makes it worth it. My meal was not served in three different parts like my mothers, and arrived on a large slate tray with "brouillade aux mousserons" (scrambled eggs with mushrooms), "salade composée" (a small salad with various collard greens, onions, tomato, carrots, and a basic vinaigrette), "jambon cru" (French version of prosciutto which came with the most adorable miniature pickles), "faisselle fermière" (an almost tasteless cottage cheese to eat before you have dessert so as to cleanse your palate), and the "dessert du moment," which that day consisted of a small glass layered with fresh raspberries, cream, and a raspberry purée). I was stuffed, and it did not help that they put a large basket of great bread at our table. Even though my whole meal came at once, I waited with the rest of my family for their other courses before resuming eating as the food was very filling—certainly fitting for mountain men! My mother ordered, for her first course, the "assiette du jour," which was a puff pastry filled with spinach and escargot set on top of a salad similar to my "salade composée." I am amazed I was able to get her to agree to let me try some, because it was absolutely superb. After this my mother was already full, and so was more willing to share her "pièce du boucher sauce au poivre," which was an fine cut of steak with a pepper sauce. The steak also came with the "légumes du jour," which was boiled spinach on toast and some cooked zucchini. For dessert she ordered the "mousse aux framboises" which came in a large mason jar; my mother absolutely loved it, but I preferred my raspberry based dessert. We came with my cousin's 6 year old daughter, and she was able to get "steak haché" (chopped up steak), fries, and a small mason jar of chocolate ice cream, all for 7,50 €. This meal is only for children up to 12 years old, so if you or your teenager wants some steak and fries, you are going to have to order one of the more expensive meals. In addition, we also ordered a 14,80 € bottle of rosé, which was the best I ever had, and my cousin, who has well ventured into the world of fine wines, agreed. All in all, friendly staff, exemplary food, cozy tavern ambiance, nice bathroom, and a beautiful view.
