What Wolfgang Meyer doesn't like about Chalet Restaurant de Cuvaloup de Crans:
this regrettable restaurant has absolutely the worst service in Switzerland. the waitresses are rude, especially the middle old lady with ingwer curly hair. she ignores every question and just insane. they also prepare for a long time for very expensive and...media food waiting. a small suppe is chf10. a small part of rosti the size of its palm CHF17. that's not a good meal. they serve cafeteria food. avoid them at a... Chalet-restaurant Couvaloup de Crans: If you are looking for a restaurant d 'alpage while around St Cergue, La Givrinne, La Dole, les Dappes (Les Rousses) this is a friendly place. Not to be confused with the absolutely dreadful restaurant by the road in les Dappes. To...reach the Couvaloup de Crans restaurant, either walk up the hill from les Dappes, or take the tarmac/gravel road below La Givrinne. Reserve a table if you want to be served well. Service can be iffy when crowded especially in the ski season as it is located on the pistes. Otherwise the staff is very friendly and we were pleasantly surprised this weekend to be served an excellent fondue aux bolets and great quality swiss meat served with a hot plate on which you complete your cooking at your taste. Call ahead as it can be closed in winter days when the ski resort is closed. And in mid season. [hidden link]
We stopped by today for a late lunch. the restaurant was crowded, but there were empty tables. After standing around with no help, we finally flagged down a server/manager who promptly asked us to sit at a dirty table that was filled with dishes. This...table was right in between two clean tables that were set and had reserved cards on them. Ok. so, here 's the question--could you not seat us at the clean table and then clean the dirty table and move the reserved card over one? I 'm pretty sure that folks didn 't reserve that exact table, as there is no view or fireplace ambiance that would make that specific table so desirable. We looked around and saw that several tables had people, but no place setting, drinks, menus. Clearly, no one cares about waiting on tables in this place. We left.
This establishment has both a restaurant and also a café. The café is extremely basic with benches for seats and an area to help yourself to hot drinks. You can also buy snack foods. Still it is warmer inside than out and it is on the side of a mountain. Buy your cup of tea and then go outside to stand on the terrace to take in the amazing view and watch skiers whiz by.
Arriving in the night by snowshoes with only a head torch to shine the way, the welcoming lights of the Cuvaloup de Crans restaurant put an even bigger smile on your face. Delicious fresh beer on tap, yummy local wines from the owner, happy service, fantastic fondue and not to forget, the arboise beef with yummy mushroom sauce. I can't wait to go back during ski season!
If you have three hours to spend for lunch then please ignore this review. This is the worst run restaurant I've ever been to in my life. We waited 20 mins to be seated, a further 20 minutes to order, then waited 20 mins for our drinks to arrive. In the mean time we were provided a tray from the "waitress" who requested we clear the table from the last customers. Then I queued for 25 mins to pay the bill during which time the owner served their friends ahead of other queueing customers. The food was decent but I would not return here ever again.
