We were very lucky to have happened across this typical French cafe just in time for a late lunch. We had the 'Formule' set menu which consisted of an entree, main course, dessert, a glass of wine and coffee for only 13 euros. All the courses were of excellent quality. The staff were helpful and efficient and the surroundings very pleasant. Unfortunately we were not going to be in the area the following evening to sa... View all feedback.
I live very close by and often go on a Friday evening after arriving home from work. The current owners have made an excellent effort in remaining within the style of a typical French Brasserie but have added an excellent menu. This is not a luxury restaurant but it remains comfortable and it is clean whilst retaining authentic decoration and charm. The menu choice is relatively small but they appear to have reasoned on the fact that they want to master what is on offer...Although the menus always appear to be traditional, the presention is not, everything that I have eaten there is always served in a manner, with a sauce, or a delicate hint of herbs or spices quite unexpected, it has always been a pleasure... The chef has a refined taste and understands the finesse of good cuisine.. It's the kind of restaurant where it is easy to take anyone, privately or professionally. I have some excellent restataurants within a 20 minute drive but I keep coming back here... I enjoy the simplicity of the surrounding, the excellent food and the service..Everything remains basic, but with good taste and an excellent chef..
Had lunch there last month on 2 occasions. The Café Français with high ceiling is a typical French Brasserie Restaurant. We ordered the luncheon set menu every time and the food is very good. Service was courteous and efficient. The only downfall is that Wifi was rather erratic but will return when in Saint Amour.
Very interesting cafe, Good attentive service without being too "in your face". St Amour was very quiet, but the Cafe Francais was very busy! We both had Menu du Jour, it was well cooked, well presented. Definitely one to re visit!
Excellent food and really good value for money. Definitely worth the small detour from the highway. Dinner only on Friday and Saturday night, lunch every day
Great, slightly trendy place in nice country village we stopped in by chance on a trip from Italy to UK. Restaurant is on the central square with a nice deck/terrace and interesting decor (old Paris metro chairs inside). We visited in midst of a heatwave and were desperate for water, which disorganised staff took exceedingly long time to deliver. We were in for nearly an hour before we got any food. Once it arrived however it was very, very good: memorable XXL steak, brilliant chips and salade composee, followed by excellent rhubarb parfait, washed down by fairly priced Chapoutier St Joseph. Not cheap for the area but felt our 88 euros for one starter, two mains, one dessert, a nice bottle of wine and two soft drinks was good value. Overall place is a modern reinterpretation of the traditional village bistro/restaurant that could do with employing some more experienced waiting staff.
