12 of us went down to this relatiw small auberge at the same time and we had meal times from the plat de jour to the decouverte menu, that is from 17 to 38 euro, in which did the whole of what was in the offer. without exception, eating was considered very good or exceptionally good. suitable for excellent service, good house wines and a reasonable price. that was undoubtedly the best restaurant we visited in this opposite.
Again a recommendation from my knowledgeable friend which we fully support. Would love to come again.
A big disappointment The set menus are relatively expensive (32 and 38 € , and many items on the list command a 5 € surcharge the duck breast, the steak, the foie gras......So the real price is closer to 45 € per person. We...had a 'mixed foie gras appetizer the foie gras mi cuit piece was no larger than a 2 € coin. Our main, duck breast, consisted of five or six thin slices of meat, no more than 1/3 of a duck breast. The cheese board was very pleasant on the other hand. Service was friendly and quick, and the kitchen managed well with the 10 or so tables on the evening. All in all, we would not return.
Twenty years ago we were staying on a campsite with our three children and. Ame here as a last night treat we have never forgotten that meal, the food was amazing and the setting bliss. The chikdren played down by the small stream between...courses and the night was bliss. Twenty years later we have managed to return, we booked into the auberge for five nights on a four week tour of France. Natalie the owner has had the auberge for teety five years, but has extended, improved, added hotel rooms, however the place is still as idyllic and the food is still out of this world. It is beautifully presented without being pretentious and with a portion size that is not too small as you somtimes find with this presentation. The goats cheese salad, goats cheese so tangy, fresh, walnuts came alive in your mouth due to freshness and quality. Muse bouche everyday so delicious, gazpacho, saussicon with honey, tiny. Melt in the mouth quiche. Mains equally superb, duck served in a crispy, chinese casing with breast and a sauce, I willl dream about and try to relroduce. Last night a tomato millefieulle was a culinary delight, layered with crab, smoked salmon, and avocado. Puddings have been superb and The profiteroles my husband ordered 20 years ago were still devine. Every night the restaurant is busy but Natalie tries to accomodate all. Recommend you book. We are on a demi pension so we have a set meal each night, this may be difficult in som restaurants but not here as everything on the menu has been so good. Wines have been fab too and extremly reasonable. House carafes so cheap. Hopefully we can return to the Dordogne sooner. If we lived nearby we woukd come very often.
