We did the 2 hour sunset sail last night and it was amazing! The crew was very attentive and went out of their way to make sure each person was comfortable (i.e., they had motion sickness pressure point bands, offered to get items below deck if you needed something, and had blankets if you forgot a layer). BOOK NOW!! My grandma and I were a bit apprehensive about sailing, but Captain Bill and his crew mate Sammy quickly put these worries at ease with their extensive knowledge of the seas and historical anecdotes of the area. The 2 hour sail includes a gorgeous view of the bay outside of Orchard Beach and a boat side tour of the surrounding islands. We saw our first lighthouse up close at Wood Island. Sammy took many pictures of my grandma and I so we could just enjoy the view.Definitely recommend adding the lobster lunch. Bob’s wife made homeade, fresh lobster rolls along with Sammy’s delicious Maine whoopie pies. Great high quality food that is well worth the price. It ended up just being the two of us, so we got a private tour for the price of a group one (yay! . Overall, great experience. Safe, fun, interesting. Left a hefty tip because Bill and Sammy deserved it!
I’ve always wanted to learn more about sailing. On a whim we booked a 2hour sail and we were lucky enough to get that time slot to ourselves.Bob gave us our first lesson as we head out to sea. A few things made this trip exceptional. Bob is an obvious master of his craft technically but he is personable, he is an intuitive teacher and this all combines to tailor the experience to you. This can be a history lesson, a romantic experience, a family shindig or a master teacher. For us it was all of the above.Finally, the staff are competent, kind and we had tons in common. And …. The boat. Although I’m a tall ship fan this boat had comfort and seaworthiness that I want to learn more about.We are pumped to come back and learn more about sailing and the community here! Captain Bob and co-caption Keith were delightful. They provided a wealth of information including sailing tips, history of the area, info on all the sights and much more. I highly reccomend.
My family and I had an awesome evening cruise with Broad Reach Adventures out on The Mistress. We had incredible weather, an unbelievable sunset and saw the Old Orchard Beach fireworks show, too. We also got to watch 2 seals play in the water, and saw a remarkable view of the Starlink satellite system zooming thru space right as we sailed near the lighthouse on Wood Island. The captain and crew were awesome. Highlight of our trip.
