Mel's Tea Room - Sackville

I didn’t have an experience at Mel’s. Only tried to… the first night they closed early nothing was posted on their social media. When I asked if they had different hours they just replied “sorry had to close early”. No problem! I explained I was just checking to see if they had different hours than what was listed. They never replied, but they do. So when I tried to come back the next morning (it’s a 25 min drive to get there) and found that they don’t actually open at 8, like google says, but at 11, I was once again disappointed. I won’t go out of my way to try them again.

Burger was great, fish and chips was missing coleslaw. Server never returned to check on meal and when asked about missing coleslaw at checkout was rude

Awesome cafe and all day breakfast. Delicious shakes, juke box music, friendly staff, Dave The owner is one cool guy. Thanks I enjoyed it very much!

Went in last night, hoping to see a bit of the old Mel's like it was before the pandemic (as their takeout has not been great . The waitress was lovely. The food was okay. But the atmosphere completely killed it. There was one loud album being played that when finished, was turned off to a largely empty dining room. Two men whom I assume were the owner and his friend, or perhaps two co owners(? paced around the now silent dining room. This made the atmosphere oppressive, like you were eating surveilled. Myself and my guest admitted to one another upon leaving that we felt uncomfortable speaking. This was an unenjoyable dining experience that will not be repeated. This combined with the poor takeout quality makes me question Mel's future in this town. Also their milkshake sizes for takeout are a rip off. They have moved from a decently sized domed cup to a small Timmy's coffee size (same price as before though .
