Here with my friend for a drink and cake stop in the feb 2022 called and bought a few items in the farm house including delicious ampleforth abbey bier. in caffe we ordered a sally lunnn teekuchen, which we had never heard! They are like a huge teecake and very delicious! the cakes are also great, including the Bakewell variety.
Frequent visits for coffee, brunch and shopping, first for a dae for Sunday dinner. second sitting, friendly reception and prompt service, shared starter, but slightly disappointed, no longer smaller main parts for, Oldie-Esser. the choice of tart and salat for my wife was never less matched, very good. my two thick slices of excellent roast beef, a sonsy yorkshire pudding, accompanied by colliflower, red cabbage, carrots and broccoli were all cooked for perfection, but would respectfully suggest a meal of this quality, size and presentation, would benefit from a somewhat larger dish. finally note the number of Doggy bags produced, could help on the healthy
During a brief stay in the area, we stumbled upon Cedar Barn and decided to have lunch there. The lasagna was exceptional, and the service was both good and friendly. We found it to be great value for money. Additionally, we purchased two ribeye steaks from the farm shop that turned out to be the best-flavored steaks we have had in a long time. We will definitely be returning to Cedar Barn when we are in the area again.
Always very welcoming with lovely friendly staff. Food and coffee excellent. We usually book for our group which is wise as the cafe is very busy. Nothing is a problem. No wonder it is popular!
In general an excellent family meal a large group for Christmas lunch. Meal portions generous, well cooked and delicious. Service was obviously stretched as extremely busy and a couple of minor errors in what was ordered compared to what was delivered! Corrected promptly where needed. They do have a problem though in dealing with Bread Sauce! The exact same happened last year too… if it comes with bread sauce, that should happen automatically. It was offered and accepted but never came, so was chased. Then a minute ramekin appeared to be shared between 7! About half a teaspoon each. A further frugal mini portion came after the waitress realised a fruitless barrel scraping would result. Happily and without further prompting, the kitchen sent out a reasonable sized bowl fitting to 7 keen diners. Trouble is by this stage, most of us had pretty much finished our meal.
