Guests praise the efficient service and the diverse menu, featuring fresh, thoughtfully-prepared dishes ranging from classic roasts to adventurous seasonal options. While some noted minor service quirks, the attentive staff generally create a welcoming atmosphere. Portions are generous—especially the Sunday roasts, touted as the best in Oakham—with each plate offering a vibrant medley of flavors. Though prices are on the higher side, patrons agree the quality and overall experience make it truly worth every penny.
Went for a meal with my friend on Saturday, food and service was great. I had the wild mushroom and tarragon pappardelle, fully recommend, very tasty.
For the price I was expecting to have the vegetables served in a separate dish and the gravy in a gravy boat but instead everything came on the plate together, red cabbage swimming in gravy ugh. Desert was very nice but so it should be for the price. Very disappointed.
Great food well cooked and presented and very friendly service in a good atmosphere. The staff were great.
Amazing Sunday roast and really friendly attentive staff. Thanks so much for making us welcome. Lovely place :
After enjoying delicious Sunday roasts here many times, we decided to switch things up and try a Saturday evening meal. We ordered from the Spring menu, which offers six starter options priced between £7-£10. We both chose the Crispy Asian Duck with chestnuts, pickled walnuts, watercress, and a chilli ginger dressing. The dish consisted of three generously sized bonbons filled with lean duck meat and bursting with flavor. Although the selection of seven main courses may seem limited, we would always prefer quality over quantity. I opted for the hand-cut sirloin steak, which was tender and cooked to perfection, complemented by a scrumptious brandy and mushroom sauce served on the side. My companion chose the Moroccan Lamb Rump with spiced couscous and cucumber mint yoghurt, which he thoroughly enjoyed for its tender and flavorful lamb. The service was professional and friendly, creating a welcoming atmosphere where nothing was too much trouble.
