What Aslam Maheshwari doesn't like about K. Surpal's Motel:
Two friends were biking from heaven to Panipat in heavy rain, completely soaked. At 2 pm, they decided to stop at the parking lot of K. Surpals for a late lunch. Despite their hesitation to enter the restaurant in their drenched state, one of them asked a staff member to serve them outside under the shade. We had originally planned to fly from Kullu to Chandigarh, but our flight was cancelled by the airline, so we ended up driving instead. Our driver suggested a stop at this restaurant and we were pleasantly surprised by how good it was. The food was much better than the usual places you find along the highway. The restaurant was run by a polite and young Sardar who was a pleasure to chat with. While the prices were a bit high, the quality and quantity of the food made it worth it. We would have given it a 5-star rating, but we deducted a point because they automatically included the driver's bill without asking us. When we brought it up, they promptly removed the charge, but it left us feeling like they were trying to add extra charges. Despite this, the restaurant is definitely worth a visit, just be sure to double-check your bill before paying.
Our taxi driver took us to this perfect pitstop, just 45km outside Chandigarh on our 7 hour trip from Dharamshala to Chandigarh. It is a large property comprising a motel, restaurant, food hall facility and outside childrens' playpark area. It was 4pm so the restaurant...was understandably empty, and we felt quite drowned in the large restaurant area. Photos with autographs from the Indian cricket team adorn the walls, in stark comparison to the very basic decor and seating. The menu comprises what we have become accustomed to in this part of India (Indian, Chinese and continental cuisine) and also offers some interesting mocktails and a large selection of other non-alcoholic beverages. The good thing (especially after our week of Indian feasting) is that they offer half portions of most main courses. We ordered the half portion of Chicken masala (which was a very decent size) and the K Surplaz's special mix vegetable curry. The chicken was deliciously tasty, what appeared to be tandoori chicken made into a tasty creamy dish topped with a boiled egg. The mix veg was a welcome change to the usual North Indian creaminess, sans gravy, and comprised a mixture of fresh cauliflower, peas, mushroom, potato, tomato, and paneer, topped with cashews and almonds. It was YUM!! The 2 butter naans were delightfully buttery and flaky, and far too much for one person! The bill was very reasonable (700 rupees for 2 people) and of note, is that they offer a card facility. A well deserved and pleasant pitstop before our last few agonizing minutes in the car back to Chandigarh!
This motel and restaurant is situated on Ropar Nangal highway. It is few kms. From Rooar city. The restaurant service, quality of food is beyond comparison. The price is so economical which we can not think of. Price v/s quality is beyond match. The best...thing is there location is prime, infrastructure is good, children park is there, small family separate room restaurants are there and lot more. The most important is their service is with good smile. It is open upto 12pm.

Surpals offered them a seat inside when they were completely soaked from the rain. Thank you, K. Surpals, for your hospitality.
