we went into the bell to celebrate our 23rd year of moving to the village. View all feedback.
I recently dined at The Bell and was thoroughly impressed with the incredible food, generous portions, and diverse menu options. I give their Sunday dinner a solid 9 out of 10, and every other dish I tried was equally fantastic. The village pub itself is charming and welcoming. I highly recommend trying the loaded chips - they are a delightful treat!
The food is affordably priced, expertly prepared, and offers a wide variety of options. The staff is extremely friendly, quick, and accommodating. I will definitely be returning in the future.
I visited The Bell today to enjoy the weather and ordered food from the brunch menu. Upon receiving the food, my immediate thoughts were that £12.95 for the offerings was poor value for money. Two of the meals were ordered without cheese, but it was evident that one of the meals had either come into contact with cheese and was scraped off, or the oil used was of poor quality, as the chips were not good at all. The burger meal had a strange taste, and it seemed like there was cheese or remnants of cheese on the bun. We returned the meal and requested a replacement, but the bar person returned the same meal stating that there was no issue with the food and refused to offer a refund. The attitude was shocking, with accusations and arguments implying that we were lying. I mentioned that I could smell dairy and that the chips tasted like they had been cooked in old oil or oil that had been used for non-vegetarian items containing cheese. When I mentioned my allergy, I was challenged and denied a refund. This poor customer service was witnessed by my entire family. Despite being a customer of The Bell for 25 years, I will not be returning. The family had a previous bad experience, but we decided to give it another try due to the new menu and chef. Unfortunately, my meal was uneaten, the chips were fed to the dog, and the bar staff did not clear the table. Another family member ended up eating the burger after it had been returned, but he felt unwell afterwards due to his intolerance to cheese, which the burger was supposed to not contain. It is a shame to see The Bell, once a friendly pub, lacking in customer service. Avoid complaining about your food intolerance or allergies at The Bell Hillmorton, as you will be challenged and accused of lying. I just wanted a nice meal out, but instead, it was a waste of money and ruined the visit. This review reflects my disappointment in the attitude and service received from the bar staff.
Had two pork Sunday Lunches today, collection. They were excellent. Can’t say a lot more. Lots of meat, potatoes and fresh vegetables. Better than, buying it, cooking it and then washing up. Makes life a lot easier.Thank you Rachel.
My wife and I had Sunday dinner here today. I have to say the whole experience was really excellent. The meal cooked to a tee service superb and prompt. Will definitely go there again.
