Very friendly staff. My wife and I have visited twice and both times have been very nice. They are only open every other Friday so make sure you check online to see if thy are open. Steaks are seasoned well and pretty decent cuts. I wouldn't say it's a kids place as they open at 6pm for dinner and have a live (usually country) band playing shortly after that. They did make a mistake on my wife's steak as far as the d... View all feedback.
What Aaron B doesn't like about Old General Store Steakhouse And Saloon:
This looked like a promising option, however it too was not open. Most of the steak houses in the area were closed. Some closed permanently. That seemed odd for the area. View all feedback.
We finally made it in to the restaurant; we've been meaning to try this place for a long time. The building is really old and historic. The service was great, they had a band that started around 7. We were charged a $10 cover (each) even though we just spent $100 on our meal. After awhile, they stopped charging their cover which makes no sense to me. So I pay for dinner and a cover charge and people who walk in late pay for nothing but their beer. Hmm. The food was ok, not great. They served canned corn..... the beer was warm. I thought they were a little pricey, but the portions were decent. The dinner did not include a salad. The place was full of locals and they were all familiar with each other. Most of them 50+. The band played cover tunes to 90's country. If you like line dancing this is the place to go, but you need a cowboy hat and boots!! We may go again sometime for the music, but we'll be there late.

I used to love this restaurant but it doesn't appear to be open any longer. I belive they only open for special events such as weddings, etc.
We booked this venue for a wedding pre-covid. The trouble started immediately when we were told the prices quoted on the business webpage would not be honored. The new price was $250.00 more, but the bride loved the idea of a Sunday brunch buffet for 75-100 guests. Also, we ignored the buckets placed around to catch rain from the leaky roof. Big mistake. Then covid happened. No longer could we have the desired number of guests. A buffet was out of the question. Then, receptions were canceled and weddings limited to 30. A request for part of the deposit was flat out denied, even though this business had not spent a single dime on our event. The owner said she couldn't refund money because she spent it all on the leaky roof! The owner of this business is very unprofessional- and not in a folksy, casual way. There are other, nicer, more professionally run wedding venues in Roy and nearby communities. Do not waste your time, and money, here.
I enjoyed the music on Friday night first time ever being there Nachos were good Drinks were good too ????
