The restaurant is presented in a simple and almost spartan way, the menu does not have many dishes, but they are simple and tasty, respectful of the tradition of cuisine made in Polesine . In particular, it is worth mentioning typical Polesane dishes such as pasta and beans , spaghetti tuna and anchovies , baccalà and mussetto . Make Rhodigium City, Polesine and Veneto great again!
This is a place where you go not only for the good food, but also for the unique experience of a family-owned business. The couple that runs the place makes you feel like you are visiting their home. The food is delicious, the wine pours non-stop and the price is a bargain. What else are you looking for?
Yesterday we enjoyed a day out of Venice, and travelled to Rovigo to visit an exhibition. Of course we looked at Tripadvisor for a place to eat after our culture-fest. We settled on a place called Al Sole which was just off the main square. A simple menu of the regular staples was on display outside. We entered and received a pleasant welcome. Inside it is quite small with I think only about eight tables. A friendly unhurried place obviously with a regular clientele. We didn’t ask for a menu and weren’t offered one but a list of what was good that day was rattled off. We went for spaghetti with anchovies and tuna, water, a half-litre of house red. A basket of bread appeared and I have to say that it was particularly nice with a distinctive, light feel to it. We were given to antipasti of prosciutto. Our pasta dish was very good with chunks of anchovy and tuna and the portions were to say the least generous. The accompanying wine was soft and very drinkable. To finish we had a couple of coffees. When we came to pay we thought that we had misheard and had to look at the till for confirmation. For the two of us we had change from a €20 note. Coming from Venice this was like giving us free food. We hope to be back in Rovigo very soon and we will have no problem deciding where we will eat. Al Sole is a friendly, chatty no frills place and highly recommended, as is the lovely town of Rovigo. I don’t know but suspect that there is no English spoken.
