The staff wa... read more We visited Alicanto for lunch break on a long european road trip. It was a quick drive off the A13 and we parked on the street near the restaurant. The staff was warm and welcoming and let us eat out in the sun in their courtyard. We were pleasantly surprised by the pranzo lunch menu 15 euros which included an antipasto, first course with a glass of wine, service, bread, water and coffee. The menu offered a few choices of very high quality dishes. We tried the crema di legumi con mezzancolle (a bean based cream with shrimps and a dusting of grated olives), bresaola with mozzarella di bufala, chicche al polpo (little gnocchi with small octopus in a red sauce), bigoli al ragu del cortile (a thick spaghetti with duck and rabbit sauce) and grilled tuna. It was all delicious and we enjoyed a lovely glass of chilled Custoza white wine. I was accompanied by my 10 year old and a very picky sicilian foodie who both agreed it was good. I just wish we lived closer to such a lovely place so we could come more frequently.
