This was a surprise and boy are we glad the other restaurant had over an hour wait. Found this and cant wait to go back. The portions can easily be shared or enjoyed the next day. We enjoyed the catfish, meatloaf, and fried chicken tenders. The sides were amazing as were the desserts. All the staff were pleasant and have all been there awhile, which tells me they treat their employees well. Well worth a visit. View all feedback.
What K C doesn't like about Yall's Down Home Cafe:
Mycomplaint is not being able to order extra cornbread, like dang I can't buy it?! 30 minutes wait on to go order and I can't get what I want! Lesson learned. I probably won't be back. View all feedback.

Great food but we ran out of water after 15 minutes and it was never refilled
So my husband had an eye appointment in Round Rock so we decided to come here to eat afterwards. So this place fell like Bourbon Street the place is so inviting. There are guitars and a Christmas tree decorated like the theme of Mardi Graus. This us definitely the brunch hang out and I see they have live music on Friday and Saturdays. So my hubby ordered the chicken fried steak, macaroni and greens and I ordered the chicken fried chicken macaroni and cabbage. Everything was fantastic and we had Togo boxes? Thank You for making our lunch great ?
Since screaming from the rooftops gets the cops called on me and is generally frowned on, this will have to do. Tldr: This place is AMAZING and DESERVES your business. This restaurant is frankly THE BEST place in the ENTIRE Austin metro. From San Marcos to Georgetown. Hands down. Reasonably priced. Great portions. Phenomenal service. And quite possibly the best food I 've had since leaving home. I 've been home cooking for years. Learned from the best. I DON 'T think I can make better. My spouse and I go almost every week. They have the crawfish etoufee with the black eyed peas and mashed potatoes. I usually have the bayou chicken with mac n cheese and fries w gravy. I 've also tried out the fried steak. Spouse has also done the catfish atchaflaya. It 's all been amazing. When I say it is always better than the last time I remember we were there, I do mean ALWAYS. These folks know what spices are and dang well use 'em well. If mayo is too spicy for ya, give this place a pass. It 's too good to tell the kitchen to make it mild for you. The cornbread is sweet and not quite cake. It 's still texturally a cornbread but definitely has that cake like moisture. Perfect. Apple crisp is our favorite dessert. We don 't bother splitting one bc we 'll fight over it. Sweet but not cloying. Speaking of sweet. The tea is on. Point. They have an unsweetened if you need it. But either way you like it, the tea is always fresh and not overbrewed. No overly bitter tannins to fight the sugar or spenda, etc. And finally, the staff. I have always felt so welcome and at home here. Even when anxiety brain has hold on me, the folks here go out of their way to make you feel like you belong. I have been coming here every week for about 6 months now. I 've come on good weeks and bad. I 've always been treated with kindness, respect, and care. These are good people sharing their passion for good Cajun style soul food. Literally, the only complaint I have EVER HAD about ANYTHING here was exactly one time the blackberry cobbler was a bit too molasses-y. And it was STILL really good. Again: I am telling y 'all. These folks DESERVE your business. And I can 't tell you enough. Vegetarian options: Cajun/southern/soul food doesn 't lend itself to vegetarian/vegan lifestyles. It 's not impossible but is not possible without significant compromise on taste or texture. It is far better to try to make vegetarian/vegan interpretations of this at home, where you can decide how much you want to compromise, instead of going to a specialty restaurant that does not. Pescatarians would be well at home here, though. Dietary restrictions: Allergens exist here. Most everything has a different option where, as long as you tell your server when ordering, the kitchen can clean to avoid cross contamination, and the allergen will not be included. The staff doesn 't bite. Just talk to them and you 'll be ok. Celiac folks may want to use caution, though. Most everything has a roux included in the making of the dish, which is definitely NOT gluten-free. It IS POSSIBLE to eat gluten-free here if you order grilled entrees and make sure you don 't get any sides with gravy included. Parking: During the week, there are a lot of spots. They fill up on Friday/ the weekend/ holidays bc there 's other restaurants in the center, and Flix Brewhouse is next door. You can still find a spot, but it may not be right up front. Kid-friendliness: No kids myself, but I have watched these folks interact with tables with kids. Big parties, small families, these folks take care of you and your kids. They have a good kids menu available, the tv 's usually play FailArmy shorts, and most importantly, no one here is gonna complain about your kids ' existin
The ambiance at Y'all's Cafe is cozy and welcoming, making it the perfect spot to enjoy a satisfying meal with friends or family. Whether you're a local or just passing through, this place is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Southern cuisine done right. Can't wait to come back for another round of those delicious catfish, mac and cheese, and yams!
