Was Zacharie Robin at L'Odas a mag?
We decided to splurge. Went for the prix fixe lunch. Great food, wine list, and service. Innovative without being weird. They threw in some good extras too. Well located near the cathedral, though a little hard to find. View all feedback.

What Michel Cousin dislikes about L'Odas:
Beautifully presented dishes; creative. A lot of Japanese style ingredients, flavours and textures which I am not sure always matched together well. Extra dish of lieu noir and morilles was OK but very expensive (25 euros) and the fish was oercooked. Wagyu beef was nothing like I have eaten in Japan... I am sure that it came from a Japanese cow but was not marbled at all. Most dishes were underseasoned. Expected bett... View all feedback.

Staff was amazing, friendly and chatty, food was nicely done.. It was fine dining at affordable prices and the art deco interior was exquisite!

Small restaurant (24 or so covers) - everyone arrived more or less at the same time and despite 3 people working in the restaurant, service seemed rushed and a bit frantic. Needs better planning.

This is the second time I’ve taken mon the train to Rouen from Paris for lunch and the second time I’ve been disappointed. Odas is a young 1 Michelin star restaurant affiliated with the Collectionneurs brand in the centre of Rouen. The dining room is surprisingly small and squeezed for a fine dining restaurant in province, so we got to enjoy the intense discussions happening on the table next to us. We arrived as late as possible for the lunch service in order not to get stuck behind too many orders, but this failed and we had to wait quite a while for our first courses to arrive. The kitchen is small and doesn’t handle the peak that well. We went for the tasting menu with cheese course and it was a curious mix of excellent and complete misses. The amuses bouches were pretty but forgettable, the first couple of entrées fairly indistinct, I was especially surprised that the veal tartare was as plain as it was. The scallop course should have been amazing but was ruined by a bitter burnt coffee emulsion. Then the fish, the beef and the cheese courses were exceptional, before crashing to a final failure with dessert of bitter baked pineapple on a collapsed sable, crowned by a saucer of sugar and served with a spoon of honey that was never explained. I really wanted to enjoy this meal but I just couldn’t understand how they were able to be so good and unsuccessful at the same time. I hope to return in a couple of years when the kinks are ironed out.
