I visited this restaurant for lunch and spent around NZ$50–60 per person. The food was satisfactory, earning a rating of 3 out of 5. The service was commendable, scoring a 4 out of 5 for its attentiveness. However, the atmosphere was average, also receiving a 3 out of 5. Overall, it was a decent dining experience. Great food, the prawns are perfectly cooked. The view is outstanding, there's no doubt about it.
Although the cafe was closed when we visited, we absolutely loved the incredible ambiance—it felt magical. Walking through the water was such a delightful experience. We even had a cheeky bee photobomb our pictures, and we named it BuZz!
This locally owned café boasts breathtaking views of Lake Tarawera. We frequently visit for brunch, enjoying a menu that offers a variety of breakfast and lunch options, along with an assortment of smoothies, coffee, tea, beer, and wine. The food is typically delicious, though it can be inconsistent during busy times. The service is friendly and welcoming, but they are occasionally short-staffed on weekends, leading to some wait times. Fortunately, you can enjoy the beautiful views while sipping a drink or indulging in ice cream, or even wade into the lake to pass the time. The portion sizes are generous for the price, catering to a wide range of tastes. Keep in mind that parking can be limited, as this area is a popular spot for swimming and boat launches. Recently, the lake area has been renovated, featuring new seating and a boardwalk. Additionally, there's a nearby hiking trail, and after brunch, you can take a water taxi across the lake to Hot Water Beach.
Nice little café with great views. Limited options available for breakfast and lunch. Good portion sizes. The barista lacks customer service. We loved their hash browns. Belgium waffles with golden syrup, eggs Benedict with mushrooms and big breakfast
Great day out service was amazing and the food was delish not to mention the views
