Stayed for one night at the weekend. I think others have mentioned the rooms could do with a refresh, but it was clean and functional. Had an evening meal and breakfast there, and both were excellent. Breakfast seemed to be just for those staying in the accommodation rather than open to all. The service was very good, especially given that there was a wedding reception on keeping the kitchen and waiting staff very bu... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Rockingham Arms:
We stayed at the Rockingham arms hotel. The room had everything you needed. The shower was exceptional. So powerful I didn’t want to get out of the shower. The bed wasn’t very nice to be honest and there was a distinct musty damp smell in the room. It is a very old building. Nevertheless the price with breakfast was reasonable and the staff lovely so I would stay again. We did have a meal in the pub itself which was... View all feedback.
Food was lovely but when I said to the waiter there was no cheese on my bacon cheese burger he stuck his finger in my food in front of everyone and told me there was, and then realised there wasn’t.
Lovely traditional local pub. Went after visiting Wentworth Woodhouse. Lovely food and lovely staff, especially Becca who was very friendly and attentive. Also Dan who filled us on the refurbishment that’s taking place soon. Prices really good for the portion size.
On arrival our pre booked table was not ready and we had been crossed off the seating plan. We were then seated at a dirty table. Our drinks order was taken and the waiter proceeded to forget one of the drinks. After a while our food order was taken. Our table was then cleared and wiped with a sopping wet cloth. When our food arrived two meals were missing and one meal was missing the extra items ordered. The waiter said there had been a technical glitch and the remaining food would be out shortly. When it did arrive the meat was cold, broccoli like concrete and was missing the roast parsnips that were advertised on the menu. We asked for extra gravy, which I’m glad we did as it was actually hot and made my meal edible. At the end of the meal we were asked if everything was ok to which out of politeness i said was alright. The waiter then said “just alright?” I told him my meat was cold. I was then given a list of excuses that they were short staffed, the regional manager had been in and that staff had been sent over to start their refurb. He then said as a courtesy he wouldn’t charge us for the extra gravy!!!! Very poor all round really.
I arrived at around 4pm and the pub was quite crowded. It had been years since I last tried the mixed grill at this place, but I decided to give it another go. It turned out to be the best mixed grill I've ever had. I will definitely be returning for another one!
My friends were coming to visit and although I live locally, we decided to book rooms for 2 nightS at the Rock as we knew we’d be spending most of our time in Wentworth. A week before arrival I received a phone call to say one of the rooms wouldn’t be available for both nights and an alternative could only be provided for one night. Although this was frustrating and would require lots of changes to our plans, I understood the reasonings for the change and there was nothing the staff could do at that time. I spoke to Jordan a few times over the course of the week and each time he was apologetic and really nice. Jordan checked me in and acknowledged straight away the issue with the room and promised he’d let me know if there were any cancellations for the following night so that I could stay there. During the time waiting for my friends to arrive all staff in the pub were extremely friendly to everyone and kept it clean. Luckily for us they did receive some cancellations so I was able to book a room for the following night as well and Jordan kindly honoured the price I had originally booked (as the price was now double what I had paid). He also offered a new, more suitable room for my friends and did it all with a smile. We could not fault the rooms, showers were powerful with plenty of hot water and the beds were very comfortable. All in all we had a lovely weekend in Wentworth and had all the staff not been as lovely and as helpful as they were, it probably would have been a lot more stressful! Thanks again to all staff, especially Jorden for his help with rooms. We will all be back after the refurb!
