Pub/restaurant in small village. We have had several meals here over the last year and initially the quality was very good indeed. Excellent value, too, with a good choice of real ales several provided by the Raw brewery and bottled Belgian ones also. However, the quality has recently fallen rapidly and our final meal was of similar quality to what one might have expected at school in the 60s and 70s. Bulk catering n... View all feedback.
What Gibson Charles doesn't like about Butcher's Arms:
After a long absence following some bad meals here, we decided to give it a try. The food is very good now, a completely different experience from last time, but very disappointing to see that they no longer stock Belgian beers. The house beer Raw is quite bland, a shame with many local beers to choose from Welbeck, Kelham, Springhead, etc. The staff was very friendly but showed a lack of experience. We may give it a... We visited as a family in June. We booked inside the bar area and had a nice comfortable table. Plenty of starter choices however non of our party ordered one. Main meals again lots of choices and a specials board. Our party tried the steak and Stilton pie which came with a huge portion of chips, vegetables and a little jug of gravy. Couple had the sirloin steak and all the trimmings which both said was great value and cooked to perfection. One of the party had the chip shop platter and one had the scampi. Again great presentation and the portions huge. I had the lasagne, salad and garlic bread. Again lovely portion but the filling was dry. I ordered a side of sweet potato fries which were really nice. Plenty of sauce choices, including Hendersons relish but no brown sauce. A couple of the party had deserts of the pear crumble and custard and the cheesecake of the day. Again they all enjoyed them. The mains ranged from 13.95 up to £20.00 and the side of sweet potato fries were £3. We all enjoyed our meal and the service was very good. The day after my sister returned for Sunday lunch which she said was really good with homemade Yorkshire puddings !
Rude landlord, rubbish beer, dogs everywhere and people wonder why kids kids get Strep A, unclean is not the word to describe this pub.
What a fabulous afternoon. The outside area was very busy. The staff couldn't do enough. Very polite and accommodating. Great beer. Can't praise it enough. Well done! 5 stars for me!
Highly recommend!! Friendly, helpful staff and delicious food at a very good price. Lovely beer garden and nice atmosphere inside. Great for families or meeting up with friends.
Food is good and affordable, friendly staff and relaxing atmosphere. Menu is limited but varied and meets the needs of most folk
