The atmosphere is authentic, but the experience is marred by lackluster service. Despite the charming traditional pub setting and excellent historical background, the overall experience is not up to par. However, the staff is friendly and accommodating. The food is freshly prepared and delicious but drinks can be expensive. The outdoor seating offers a quaint and refreshing experience, making it a good option for dining. Overall, the establishment has potential, but inconsistency in service may leave patrons feeling slightly underwhelmed.
My experience at this restaurant was great. It's a charming, traditional pub with a fascinating history - there used to be an underground tunnel to the mermaid that was used by smugglers. The service was excellent and the staff were very friendly.
The food and drinks at this restaurant are okay, and the atmosphere is authentic. Unfortunately, the dish we wanted was not available, so we had to choose a different option. The service was lacking, as we had to wait a long time for condiments we had asked for. It seemed as though our waiter had left their job, leaving us to eat our meals without the sauces we had requested. Eventually, a barmaid asked about our food, but by then it was too late. Despite receiving ketchup at the last minute, we never did get our mayo. Overall, the experience was marred by the poor service.
We saw this pub at popped in because it was raining. We didn't know it was the first day of the jazz festival so we stayed and had a drink and some food when we know a guy was singing.the food and drink was amazing.so was the music.we be back for next year jazz festival if you have music again and amazing food
Lovely food, after most of the other establishments had shut. I enjoyed a well cooked pizza and my husband enjoyed his chicken wings and garlic bread. The staff took pains to make sure our drinks were right. We sat outside which was nice and refreshing after a very hot day. The foliage was lovely. The narrow streets and old buildings added to the atmosphere.
Found somewhere in Rye that sells good Guinness. Well done whoever looks after the cellar. Nice comfy pub and good atmosphere. Worth a visit .
