I've walked past this restaurant for a long time but finally decided to give it a try on a cold day, as a change from my usual spot at Wetherspoons further down the road. I ordered two traditional dishes - homemade minestrone soup and one of us had spaghetti bolognese while the other had lasagne. Both dishes were not only generous in portion size but also served piping hot, which is always a good sign. The other customers seemed like regulars and I can see why. We had to take a walk on the seafront (just a couple of minutes away) afterward because we were so full from our meals! The atmosphere was great and the staff were friendly. Overall, we really enjoyed our experience.
A friend and I were in town early Sunday afternoon and wanted something different than Wetherspoons. We were pleased to find a 2-course special for only £7.95, with good vegetarian options and house wine. The service from the friendly proprietor and waiter was excellent. Our total bill, including drinks, came to around £20. We will definitely be returning for another visit!
The food was tasty, especially the cheesy garlic bread. We ordered two pasta dishes, which arrived promptly even though the restaurant was busy. However, the drinks were underwhelming – not very cold and served in small, non-branded cola glasses. The price was reasonable for lunch in the area. Overall, I would have been disappointed if I had come for dinner. The use of non-branded cola at the same price as other drinks felt off for an authentic Italian restaurant. The service was good, with a polite waitress and engaging owner.
This is a lovely family run Italian Caffe, dropped in for lunch, had a wide range of Italian favourites on the menu, I went for spaghetti puttanesca , the wife a calzone. Mine was requested as gluten free which it was made as, it tasted extremely good and clearly was made with care and used fresh ingredients, the calzone was sizeable and well filled with cheese ham and tomato. The service was friendly and pleasant. The prices reasonable and the restaurant clean and nicely presented. We will be back
