What Steve M doesn't like about Magill Estate Restaurant:
Our first impression as we walked through the dimly lit entrance was not great. Very cold introduction and left with a feeling that we were more of a nuisance than a customer. While some of the staff were more engaging than others, this then pretty much remained the theme for the night. We would not return, which is a shame, the food was great and the setting fantastic, but we felt let down by the people. View all feedback.
The paired wines were excellent. Each offering was different from the rest and even included a glass of Grange. The wine however outshone the food which was good but was nowhere near WOW which for the price I would expect. Great ingredients but a little safe in their use and presentation some of the dishes being more suited to a luncheon. Would try again but only if someone else paying!!
Excellent restaurant with high quality interesting dishes BUT, the portion sizes where too small, particularly given the pricing.I will be recommending it to friends etc, but will warn them that portion sizes are very small!
Great food..well presented. This is our second visit here. We were here a year ago. Portion sizes had changed slightly since then. They were smaller this visit, and I think our table of 3 preferred the slightly larger portion sizes last time, although the food was still delicious.
Superb food matched with amazing wines and fantastic staff.
All guests had dietary requirements and they were all catered for. Nothing was too difficult.
