Half Fast Karaoke

Description

Nestled near Highway 183 and Lamar, this Austin karaoke spot is clean, spacious and budget-friendly—BYOB, ample parking, and helpful staff make it a popular group and birthday destination. The song library is large but inconsistent, with notable omissions and clunky remotes; thin soundproofing, narrow corridors, and only a couple of restrooms can mar busy nights. Random music videos and a quirky scoring system add levity, but a reported instance of discriminatory treatment is a serious concern.

I had a surprisingly good experience with karaoke, even though the menu was entirely in a different language, making it tricky to find songs. However, what truly bothered me was that I didn’t go to karaoke to spend $43, only to encounter racism – it’s just unacceptable. I played Usher’s “Love in This Club,” and I certainly didn’t expect to feel disrespected. I had been respectful and easygoing throughout the night, especially since I was sober, but after finishing a bottle, the experience left me feeling frustrated.

Super sweet karaoke spot. They have popular English songs. Great way to spend a few hours with friends.

This was my first time at a karaoke place. The place has clean rooms and a bring your own food / BYOB policy. They also gave us cups for our drinks, which was really nice. I was really disappointed because we noticed some very popular songs in the song book that were actually not on the digital karaoke machine, which is a great shame. The remote control is very unintuitive. The screen had really random videos accompanied the songs like ski or nature scenes that were really funny. We paid $130 for 10 people for two hours, which is very reasonable. There were many parking spaces.

Bad song selection, few toilets and narrow corridors and sounds that penetrate between rooms. The best for a group of drunken people. Maybe. I have high standards for karaoke, but the places I was in LA and SF are more modern and more fitting. You didn't have one of me in karaoke songs. You have nothing from Rise Against Bullet for my Valentine Steam Powered Giraffe The Cab Michael Franti Spearhead Matisyahu Stephen (the Crossfire sang) Andy Grammer (except a song I didn't recognize) The Human League American Authors Lord Huron Madden (Golden Light Especially) You did not have Avicii's The Nights The Killers' Human, Spaceman OneRepublic's Secrets A Million Dreams (The Greatest Showman OST), Tightrope I had to dig very hard in songs they had that I could sing. You have lots of Maroon 5 songs they have: Fools Garden's Lemon Tree Panic on the Disco's High Hopes some songs from The Script most of the pop songs you are probably tired from hahahaha Sure I expected more songs than a retail kaoke machine! (e.g. one of my friends). came here with a group of 8 friends. $35/hr for 8 people is a good offer and we enjoyed the experience. Selection of songs The website is all in Korean, but fortunately there is Google Translate to Chrome mobile. The remote control is unintuitive to use, and you have aligned directly to the infrared receiver and maybe try a few times. Song selection See above. Very disappointing selection, although there are many of the songs you expect. Music videos Most music videos were very random and roughly mismatched. It was often funny or distracting, and with a unified nature background or something would make much more sense. Or just let all of you hit your BYOB hard Seltzer and laugh at how the Sync and the non-imaginable things are going. Scoring There is a strange scoring of 80 100 at the end of each song, and there seems something random, or perhaps correlated to sing volume? I had a sore throat and got 99, 100 and 99, while the rest of our party got only two 99. The screen also takes away from the singing time, forces like a 10-sec. Transition between songs. Noise level between rooms We could definitely hear songs between the other rooms, especially when crossing between our songs or quieter instrumentals. It was quite funny to hear other people actually, although not a great sign for a karaoke place. Toilets exist only two persons toilets (not unisex), so there are often toilet lines, especially as the other rooms were full and all have been drunk. Defend a no for karaoke place to have long toilet lines in the already narrow corridors. It is definitely not practical to keep any social distance with strangers here. Water There is no water fountain or otherwise free water. There are water bottles available at $1.08 for a 25 oz bottle. They said the toilet tap is not safe to drink, but go to buy water bottles is so out of the way (our room is next to bathroom, but far from staff), people just end drinking tap. For some reason, the rooster burned my throat a little, but looked clear and smelled. TIP: You can run the hot tap water through an unopened drink to heat it up (see if your throat is sour, but you only have cold drinks).
