My family and I wanted to go out somewhere else after I brought my parents to a new home. We found North 40 on the line and decided to try it. What a cool place! Service was great. I liked the beer and cider. However, the food was the worst restaurant food I've ever had. My wife had a California Sandwich. The bread was cold, dry and stale. I had a French Dip. The meat was lukewarm and flavorless, the onions were undercooked and the Au jus was greasy and flavorless. The high point were the fries. I really enjoy the service at N40; the staff is always friendly. They offer a good selection of beer and cider, along with some nice wines. There’s often entertainment, which is a nice touch. However, the vegetarian food options leave a bit to be desired. The hummus plate is somewhat expensive and not very exciting. My spouse ordered the grinder and thought it was pretty ordinary.
We ordered an appetizer of fries, and they arrived a full 30 minutes after our main dishes. We didn’t receive any drink refills, and it seemed like the other tables around us were experiencing the same issue. The employee was clearly overwhelmed, but it’s not his fault. The restaurant needs at least two staff members: one to manage the bar area and another to serve the seated customers. On top of that, it was Halloween, and the owner was outside handing out candy. He could see how slow and chaotic things were inside, yet he didn’t seem to care. He watched his single employee struggle to handle four tables without any assistance. It wouldn’t have been such a big issue if the walk-in customers didn’t keep crowding the bar and disrupting the flow of service for everyone else.
We visited for breakfast last Sunday, and I must say that the customer service was excellent. The food I ordered was enjoyable, but unfortunately, it wasn't enough. I've never experienced a breakfast where potatoes were served as a side dish, and toast wasn't offered. Typically, a breakfast includes eggs (any style), bacon, ham, or sausage, along with hash browns or toast. I ordered eggs Benedict, which was delicious but lacked sufficient portion size. Including hash browns would have made it even better. I understand there are options like ham and English muffins, but I would love to see some additional items on the menu. I really enjoyed the place and would happily return if the breakfast menu included bacon, sausage, or ham, along with hash browns or potatoes, and toast. Thank you, Rosemary D’Addario.
I’ll begin by saying that the fried pickles were fantastic. Our server was excellent, and overall, the food was quite good. However, I found the beer to be a letdown. I tried a flight that included the cervesa, kolsch, hazy, neon, and blood orange. They were all decent, but none really stood out.
Enjoy the pub food, savor the beer, and revel in the live music. I had a fantastic night out—thank you, North Forty!
