Contribute Feedback What Shelby S likes about Coffee Beanery:
My mocha creme coffee was delicious and staff was kind. Coffees were made fast and efficiently, much faster than Starbucks. The barista politely asked each customer whip/no whip as she multi-tasked. Very impressed! View all feedback.
What Ryrie R doesn't like about Coffee Beanery:
Needed some quick food and chose the entirely wrong spot. One employee working. Could not toast bagels (you couldn’t plug in the damn toaster? which apparently meant the bagels would be ice cold. Did not include our cream cheese. Bagel itself was 4.50 cents. the parfait with hardly any yogurt and maybe 4 halves of strAwberries and 3 blueberries with a dash of granola was 8 dollars. Ridiculous. Do better it’s not hard... View all feedback.
I’ve stopped here on a number of occasions when passing through DTW. Coffee is good and employees are always friendly to me.
Disappointing. I was initially looking for a Starbucks but saw this place. I thought it 'd be nice to have something local for a change and ordered a mocha and a croissant. The mocha tasted like diluted dishwasher fluid. The croissant was a packaged one with pre filled uninspiring jelly. Now, if you 're going to be a coffee shop that rivals established brands like Starbucks, you better have fresh, hot bakery items to complement the beverage. Sadly, fresh cannot be associated with this particular coffee shop. I threw away the coffee after 3 sips. The staff were edgy and the barista yelled out orders as if in battle. There is a reason why people still go to Starbucks despite better tasting coffee being out there consistency. Why am I giving 2 stars and not 1? Because they at least had wall outlets next to the 3 tables to charge your phone.
This review is just another classic case of racism and white privilege that I couldn’t let go unaddressed. Although I know this is the norm today for employees to be blanatly racist and go unpunished I felt the need to share today’s experience. I visited this location at the the airport where I’m also an employee and come here pretty much daily. I waited behind a Caucasian gentleman who was asking for paper and plastic ware to eat his lunch. The employee who’s name I am unsure but she too is caucasian with red hair states that she doesn’t have paper plates but is happy to give him the entire cup with forks and spoons as well as two large cold cups. He then takes the cups and spoons and proceeds on his way without charge or question. The employee is polite and kind to him. I am then greeted after him and I proceed to ask for a cup of hot water as I too am looking to make my oatmeal here at work. The employee then tells me sure thing but I’ll have to charge you for the cup. I say but you didn’t charge the gentleman before me and he was given multiple cups and plastic ware. With the dumb and blank stare she looks at me and I stare back. As I kindly expressed my concerns in that moment I disregarded my order, told her to have a nice day and walked away. This is yet another racism act that I know will go unnoticed but prayerfully it helps someone else. So no patronize this coffee shop here in the DTW airport baggage claim. It is clear that their employees don’t undergo common customer service training let alone any ethical or diversifying training. I am hurt beyond words. It is not about paying for the hot water as I wouldn’t have mind that all had I not seen the white gentleman receive the same items and more but me a black woman was denied that same respect and courtesy. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere, and to the young lady who discrimated so boldly against me may God be with you.
I went to the Coffee Beanery while waiting for a flight at DTW. I told the girl I wanted a French vanilla latte and a blueberry muffin. The one at the counter didn’t even seem to know what a latte was. And the girl making it, after she had started it, says, we don’t have french vanilla, can I use sugar free. I told her no thank you, I don’t want it. She gets something out and puts in it, and says here try this. I took a taste, but declined again. They both were a little put off, but, were pleasant enough. So they finally go get the manager, cause neither one knew how to do, or could do a return. He told me they did have my vanilla in the storage and did I want him to go get it. I declined Again. I said I just want coffee now. He finally, after 15 minutes gave me my refund and I bought the coffee. So, I was a little upset, why did the girls at the counter not handle this? Were they new? Where was the manager? Just a bit unprofessional in my opinion. Sounds like they need better trainers in this place at DTW. Just saying
The coffee is awful. Seriously, worst coffee ever. At least the people working there are nice. Just don't drink the coffee or any coffee beverage from this place.
